We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany D and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, how do you think about risk?
I view risks as taking an opportunity to grow, build and enhance your life. Taking risks has played a major role in my life. My business literally wouldn’t exist if I had not taken a risk. I took the risk of leaving my full time teaching career to create my business, Lavish Locs.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am excited about integrating my educational and cosmetology experience as a traveling loctician and instructor. I’ve worked very hard to get to where I am today. It was not always easy. Although I was happy about the business growing during the pandemic, it became overwhelming. I felt very anxious at times. To overcome the challenges, I would take time to meditate each morning to figure out how to make things less challenging. I would write down what I wanted and what it took to get there.
I have learned many lessons along the way. I learned to never loose sight of what you want, despite of how your life looks today. I learned to do what scares me, because that’s exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. I learned that it’s ok to take risks. That is what I want the world to know about my brand and story.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
During the transition between being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur, I read two amazing books. The first book I read was by Judge Lynn Toler entitled “Dear Sonali, Letters to the daughter I never had”. After reading this book, it brought so much more light, clarity and purpose for my life. Judge Lynn Toler definitely deserves credit and recognition to my story. Her book changed my life forever.
The second book I read was by Robert Kiyosaki entitled “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. This book taught me how to be financially literate. It taught me what money is and how to have a smart, healthy and balanced relationship with money. I gained a lot of insight that I utilize in my life and in my business. This booked also changed my life forever.
