Meet Tierra Hudson | Certified Clinical Aromatherapist & Herbalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tierra Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tierra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business simply because I wanted to be able to share the wonderful world of aromatherapy with my family. At the time my mother had a nut allergy. Alot of essential oil products are diluted with fractionated coconut oil. When I started looking at different products, I realized that coconut oil was used ALOT and she didn’t even know that she was putting it into her body. That is when I got my “Ah Ha” moment. I decided that I would make my own essential oil blends so that she could use them on her skin. I have had my business for close to 3 years and I still do not use many nut ingredients when making my products.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Reign Body & Soul Aromatherapy. I offer all natural holistic products. I am a certified clinical aromatherapist recognized by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy. I received my schooling through the Aromahead Institute. I am a self taught herbalist and am currently enrolled at the Herbal Academy to become a clinical herbalist. It is alot but I LOVE WHAT I DO! The basis behind my business is a very simple saying “Vis Medicatrix Naturae”, the healing power of nature. Our bodies have the ability to heal themselves, we just have to put them in the best scenario meaning watching what we put into or on our bodies. I have several chronic illnesses such as chronic migraine, spinal stenosis, and battle daily with anxiety and depression. I am 100% natural and do not take meds, therefore I count on what the Earth has to offer me and let me just tell you that is all it takes!!! I love being able to listen to my clients tell me what they are struggling with and immediately being able to make a product that is specific to them. That is what sets me apart. I make products for general use but what really gets me excited is knowing that I am putting together a very tailored product to assist their body in the healing journey. It is definitely not easy running a small business while also still working full time, but when I get feedback from my clients that say “They haven’t felt this good in years…”, It gives me the extra motivation that I need to continue to press on. I have learned that not everyone is going to like every product that I create. However, there is a target audience out there that will love it all and you just have to find them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I actually don’t live in Atlanta, but when I visited my absolute favorite place to go was the Atlanta Botanical Garden. It was absolutely breathtaking. I was able to see the Orchid Daze exhibit, which is the largest display of orchids in the world. What was so cool about it was that my brand flower is a purple orchid. Orchids are considered the “Queen” of flowers, and purple orchids symbolize royalty and admiration, and are traditionally given as a sign of respect.

Another place that I visited that I would take my best friend is the Coca Cola Roxy. They have a plethora of artists come through to do concerts and I was able to see one of my favorite artists, Ella Mai. I love the fact that they had a VIP lounge.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my son. His middle name is Reign hence the name of my business; Reign Body & Soul Aromatherapy. I call him Mr.Vice President. I teach him about holistic wellness, essential oils, and herbs. It makes my heart smile when he can pick out a lavender flower or knows where to put oils when he isn’t feeling well. “Train them up in the way that they should go..!”
