We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiberious Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiberious, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting Jardin Dê Gris was that life is short as the pandemic has taught all of us. I believe it showed me that you have to treasure and live every moment. I always had a love for flowers. I thought what would be a better life than creating arrangements, bouquets while experimenting with flowers. So I started Jardin Dê Gris watching videos on YouTube and TikTok learning how to be a florist. I started creating and putting things together in my head and people just liked it. I must say it’s the best feeling in the world knowing that someone’s expressing emotion through my creations.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a floral designer. My business name is Jardin Dê Gris. I design custom floral arrangement for all kinds of occasions. I’m the only florist I know so I experimented and try all kinds of cool ideas. I’m a one man show so I’m creating and delivering my art. I want my business to stay true to me. I’m a young black man so I want everyone to feel comfortable shopping with me. Flowers are a simple gesture so show you care. I want my business to be the reason why someone doesn’t give up on their dream. My parents always taught me that “ the sky is the limit”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to be in town we would enjoy this beautiful city. We would lunch at a nice out door restaurant. I love authentic Italian food so we would definitely go to La Tavola Trattoria. We would have to grab some Jenni’s ocean. Sunday is the day to brunch so we would be out trying to find endless mimosas! Eclipse Di Luna would be where we go because I love their food and my cup doesn’t get empty.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents Deborah and Tiberious would get the loudest shout out from me. I would never have been able to start my business without the encouragement, drive and support from my parents. I learned so much about handling my business, staying focused, and accomplishing goals from watching them over the years.
