We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiarra Shaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiarra, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is a necessary step to grow. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is where real change can occur. If I hadn’t taken risks I wouldn’t be where I am today. 19 years ago I left my hometown with just the clothes in my car and moved to Atlanta. It was risky because I didn’t have a degree, or a job waiting for me in Atlanta. However, I was determined to make it work here. I went on to get my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Along with opening and operating successful businesses. This is all because I wasn’t scared to take risks.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a Realtor, you not only help people sell and buy homes. You will also need to sell and market yourself as an expert that people can trust. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest life decisions a person can make. So having the right person negotiating on your behalf is important to the process. It can be challenging in an economy where so many are feeling the pinch in their wallets. This is why having the right Realtor who can think outside the box is essential. I use my creative nature to overcome challenges my clients may face and strategize a plan so everyone can win! I love to help people, so it’s not just work for me it’s more about building relationships. Relationship building is my brand. While others may approach real estate as transactional, for me, it’s about genuine connections.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Milton/Alpharetta, so one of my favorite spots to shop and dine is at the Avalon. If we’re closer to the city I would take them to Little 5 Points, the Underground, Ponce City Market, High Art Museum, Aquarium, or the Coca-Cola Factory for a little bit of food, fun, and culture. It is usually some event or activity happening in those locations. If we wanted to get our heart rate up and burn some calories, I would suggest walking up Stone Mountain or walking/biking the Atlanta Belt Line. Depending on the time of year if they like sports, I would take them to a Hawks, Falcons, Braves, or Atlanta United Game. If they like adventure I would take them to the Porsche race track. If they wanted some history I would take them to the King Center, The Civil Rights Museum, The Apex Museum, or the College Football Hall of Fame.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give all the praise to God, my mother, and my son. God is my protector, my mother is my role model and inspiration, and my son is my motivator. Each has given me a reason to keep going when times are tough, or I’m scared and doubt myself. My mother is my blueprint. Watching her run a successful insurance agency was key to my wanting to have my own business. My son is my light. Even when the days are heavy, I can just look at him and he brightens my mood instantly. God is my guide through it all. I walk in faith because I know with him there’s nothing I can’t conquer.
