We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiara Bracey-Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiara, how does your business help the community?
Agape Life Prevention Center (ALPC) was established as an Organization, in 2018, by Tiara Bracey who wants to initiate change with how many abused and neglected children are overlooked and under-supported in our educational system. ALPC has spearheaded a Love Movement that provides mentoring, tutoring, luncheons, field trips, free haircuts, sporting activities, and incentives. ALPC is the 1st organization to address the Social and Emotional Challenges of abused and neglected children. Oftentimes people only focus on the more severe child abuse cases and neglect, but Agape Life focuses on the early stages and beings the prevention process. Did you know that children who experience child abuse and neglect are more likely to be arrested and more likely to commit a violent crime? According to the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, those abused and neglected as children are likely to repeat the cycle of abuse. Mothers with a history of childhood victimization have been associated with an increased risk of their children experiencing maltreatment. Studies have also identified a strong link between reported childhood abuse and neglect and various psychiatric disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxieties, post-traumatic stress, increased rates of schizophrenia, eating and personality disorders, suicidal behavior, and later substance abuse (Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, 2016). ALPC is committed to increasing positive men and women in young boy’s and girls’ lives. The programming of ALPC is designed to combat the social and emotional ills that stem from child abuse or neglect in the household. With Love, we can rebuild confidence in our children. “ 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, and it does not boast; it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others; it is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NIV).

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week-long trip with my best friend, First, we would have a sleepover at my house to catch up, cry, and laugh. We would then get some wings from tom dick and hanks, have some wine, and get off to bed to go on our trip to New Zealand. Waking up in the morning, we would stop at Starbucks and then board our plane for 20 hours to New Zealand. Upon arrival in New Zealand, we would stay in a cottage suite and enjoy all that the town has to offer for those first four days; then we would go to the beach. And get a beach house on the water to relax and enjoy the beach. After that, enjoying New Zealand, we would go home to our children and take them to dave, and busters laugh and love on them.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I’m thankful for my husband for planting seeds and being a great supporter; God used him in many ways for me to start new avenues with my non-profit to better support children & families. I have to thank Jasmine and Katie for always being a sound voice and pushing me. I’m forever grateful for my mother and my father for just always being loyal to me and being excellent parents; Laquita, I have to thank her as well for just showing me true love and compassion. Brittani, my best friend, is always one call away. She taught me how to love again. Rev waite she planted the seed of organization, and I hope she helped me create Agape Life by pushing me into purpose with her course she offered called living on purpose. So with that being said, God gets all the praise and worship for giving me a vision and putting me in the places I need.
