Meet Tiana Johnson | Renaissance Woman

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I am an overthinker. I literally over think every decision that I make now a days. Well I’ve always been like that, but I am more intentional about the decisions that I make. My friends and family are always scrutinizing me because they say I think too deeply into things but it’s only because I try to think through every scenario. Of course I can’t predict everything that will happen or obstacles that I will face; however the more I can think of, the better chances I will have of minimizing unexpected set backs. So whether I’m an over thinker or not, the fact that I can plan to think ahead and forecast as many potential threats in my way, it better suits me this way. It can be a little overwhelming at times because I get inside my own head, but all in all, this is one habit that I would prefer NOT to do without.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What I want to highlight in this interview is the empire that I am creating with my brand, SxaJ. SxaJ stands for: Something by Ana J. I shortened it because I simply liked the way the name sounded when it rolls off my tongue. I have always been into all things beauty. I’ve always been into accessorizing. I’ve always had a very unique and niche way to the way I put my outfit together. SxaJ is a luxury brand that I’ve been developing for the past two years now. It’s going to start as purses and as we move along, we will expand into other accessories like scarves, belts, shoes, etc. This brand is by a double minority, myself. I’m a woman, and I am black. I want to show our black and brown people that there is nothing that we cannot do. I want our customers to feel like they are a part of something bigger. With that, I want to give back to them in many ways. I don’t want my consumers to look at me like I’m just another company trying to take their money leaving them with just a bag. A SxaJ bag will be more than just a bag that you’re spending your money on. You will get an investment with anything SxaJ that you purchase. I just always felt like if you’re in a business, JUST to make money, you’ve already lost. You might be very wealthy in dollars, but inside you are not.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie for the restie is coming into town, we’re hitting all the good spots. They’re coming in on a Sunday, the first thing we’re doing is hitting the Nail Bar Buckhead Atlanta. The first stop is to get cute. Sit back and relax. Monday, we’ll do a chill day as well, it’s Monday, I personally don’t like Monday’s but because my rollie is in town, we may hit a brunch spot. I love Embr Lounge, and their brunch menu is bussin! Tuesday, we’re looking at getting ramped up for the rest of the week. Tuesday, we may go somewhere lowkey, Pin & Proper. They have the best fries! I love the owner there, he always shows me and my people a good time. He sets a section to the side as long as I tell him I’m coming. They have good drinks and the best games. Wednesday, not gone lie, we’re probably going to chill at the crib and my friends will probably smoke some hookah and we’ll watch movies and I’ll be Ana J, the bartender. Thursday, we at Vision! My people in Vision always treats us good and we get the club lit every time we on the scene. Friday during the day, we’ll hit up the mall and grab something to eat from like Johnny Rockets. I’m high class, but I love spots like this. We’ll walk around millennial station for a bit just to see the sites and then head over to my girl Erica’s house in Atlantic Station. That’s where we’ll plan our moves for the night. Knowing her, we’ll find a ducked off spot downtown Atlanta, but the vibe is open on Friday night. Saturday, we gotta make it count! I have plenty of celebrity and influencer friends in the city, so the opportunities are endless as to what we can get into. Better believe, a time will be had!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I give God all the glory in this story and every other story that I have. So to give God thanks first, is first and foremost for me. My family is a very big support factor for me. They do so much for me in ways that they can’t even imagine. I have a very close knit family and because of this, it’s safe to say that they all add their own sparkle to my life in their own little ways. My siblings, close cousins, uncles and aunts, and my parents of course have all played a hand in grooming me into the woman that I am today.
