We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana and Terashon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana and Terashon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We were initially inspired by the documentary “She Did That!” The Lip Bar stood out to us. We were known as the lipgloss queens throughout high school and at our former waitressing jobs. Melissa Butler was making lipstick in her kitchen. It was the middle of the pandemic, and all we had was the kitchen! We both looked at each other and said we could do this as well! Now we are. Turns out we’re both really passionate about the process. The pandemic put us in a position that made us uncomfortable financially, and we decided that it was time to take charge of our careers and finances. We just so happen to be having the time of our lives!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our mission is to inspire creativity and individuality by providing high-quality beauty products for all with the experience of immaculate customer service.

Starting a business is fun, but not easy! This business is a partnership so individual effort is required for strengths of both parties to gel in the best way. Discipline and certain sacrifices have to be made by both parties which requires immaculate communication, balance and openness. We fully accept that starting a business is a journey and because of that acceptance the process is a bit easier now.

Yanni Beauty is taking calculated and uncalculated risks to test our market. Although our company is still in infancy the rewards have been generous. Our brand and aesthetic has captured the attention of brand ambassadors who are intrigued, and want to be a part of the Yanni Beauty team and joining the Yanni Beauty club! These specialty members are helping grow our business in the best way.

We want the world to know that anything is possible, choose to do what you are honestly interested in and make it fun!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we would go to Stone Mountain for an early hike. Then brunch at The Hive. For dessert we would go right across the street to R Thomas for the best Vegan cake. High museum would be next. For night life Blu Seafood and Tribeca.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
