Meet Thomas Abair | Founder and CEO Aerospace Awareness

We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Abair and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thomas, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
There are three things that inspire me most: my faith, a profound passion for flying, and the need to experience new challenges. This drive has given me a wealth of knowledge in the field of aerospace. Sharing this information with children with a thirst for aviation is overwhelmingly inspirational. I get the privilege to witness positive growth within young children while pursuing a goal that before my program seemed unrealistic. The genesis of Aerospace Awareness was the moment I saw the remarkable transformation that young aspiring aviators make when it comes to conduct, professionalism, and the desire to excel to a higher level.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a retired veteran I’ve recognized that serving the country and our community goes hand in hand. I decided to invest not only in the future of the community but my future, and the future of this nation…our youth. While not only introducing youth to the intimidating world of aerospace and aeronautics, Aerospace Awareness gives students structure and confidence while exploiting leadership qualities in each individual. These leadership qualities allow students to lead by example and extend those core values to their peers. Anytime my business provides at least one child with the motivation and the skills necessary to pursue their goal is the moment I am most proud. At that time I consider my brand a success. Inspiring the youth of my community is hugely rewarding while also securing a future for aerospace technology!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When visiting the area I think it is important to get a taste of the Atlanta’s culture and atmosphere. Here are a few places that I personally think fit those categories:
9 Mile Station- Located at the Ponce City Market downtown. This rooftop restaurant gives you incredible views of the Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead skylines. The atmosphere will truly make you feel like you are in Atlanta.
The Original J.R Crickets- Has been in business for years. Always considered to be the best place in Atlanta for wings.
Bar Margot- Absolutely the best in customer service and great dining experience. You can call ahead and have your food and drinks ready when you arrive. Oh, and if you happen to drive an EV, valet will charge your vehicle while you dine.
Del Bar-Located in the Inman Park area near downtown. While in Atlanta you will feel like you’ve escaped to the Mediterranean. The food is incredible and authentic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to the following for the continued support for Aerospace Awareness. The City of College Park for embracing the program. Believing in my vision was instrumental in presenting Aerospace Awareness to the community.
APD Special Operations Section Air Unit has done an amazing job supporting the development of young aspiring aviators with hands on interaction and real time discussion with skilled pilots. The Air Unit’s sacrifice goes well above and beyond the call of duty by inspiring and educating the children of the community.
USAF 116 ACW/128th ACCS for responding to the call and recognizing the need to build relationships with non-military communities. Their huge effort and taking the time off between training and flights to spend time with cadets does not go unnoticed. This interaction personally touches each cadet in their own way, motivating them to continue to lead and strive for excellence.
Jonesboro Church of Christ has been an invisible hero and rose to the occasion to not only assist with the program but deliberately respond to need of service to the community.
