We had the good fortune of connecting with Thiago Pego and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thiago, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Having been raised in two very different countries (Brazil and the U.S.), and as a person who was deeply in need to find inclusive spaces, and not being able to find it.

I would say the main reason that all of this happened was because I was able to learn that I was not alone in the feeling of not belonging. Much before working towards spaces where I belong to in that journey I met different communities that are part of our larger community that go through so much things that I hadn’t and then I was able to use my voice to start fostering these spaces.

So one of my first projects that is still ongoing, was to curate space for trans women of color. I was an acting teacher for 11 years and it was never a business idea to produce events for living. After moving back to the Boston area From Brazil, I was in need of social experiences and the more I put myself out there the more frustrated I was with the feeling of not Belonging. I joined a sports queer league and I was invited by a board member who who is a friend of mine to apply for the position of Director of events I was already leading a discussion group for Brown black Carmen at the time so we can talk about things that we don’t normally talk in social settings and yet need to be discussed.

I went through the whole process and that’s when I first started actively working as a volunteer serving a board for Stonewall Boston. Producing events, my main focus was to be intentional while producing these events and programs to be inclusive to different cultures, and also to all queer identities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
1) I truly believe that there is worth in every work, what does said as part is, we are focused in creating an experience that make people feel something, we often say that we craft energy. We we have been able to learn how to create good energy, and good vibes. in the world where we queer people of color mostly deal with hate, criticism, abandonment, and confusion.

Going to spaces and finding social groups. Where are you no longer need to try. All you need to do is exist. When existing is enough and we’re able to make people feel, they can be the best version of themselves. That’s when we know we accomplished something..

2) 2023 has been an amazing year where I have been able to expand my personal brand, as well as to the organizations that I am affiliated with in a national setting and being able to curate social programs and events in multiple cities around the United States. It brings me a lot of joy to be able to foster spaces for so many folks and see that genuine work flourish and being life-changing to so many people like me.

3) Business wise, being consistent with my mission and trusting my gut feelings and my genuine intention has sent me not only but also guaranteed my complete success, one thing I learned in this lifetime is that there will never be another one of me, so I always start my thinking process as what does Thiago has to bring to this? How does this Align with Thiago’s mission in this planet?

Being easy or being hard, or just a matter of perspective, I’ve always had a vision, and it would be constantly being updated as it involved, one thing that I have never done is doubted myself, or tried to others, in the cost the real reasoning I am doing all of this.

Everything has to make sense.

4) One thing I what the world to know is that unlearning is the first step into learning who you really are, for most of my life I lived in the shadow of what I was thought what I was led to believe by other folks, who were doing their best with what they had, but most of the things I learned, didn’t really apply to the person I was meant to be and unlearning all of that was key to unleash the true version of myself.

And that’s when I started crafting my own journey under my own terms, really navigating through life the way I designed it to be for myself.

I did it anyone can. But while they don’t have the strength to do these things, I’ll be here fighting for all of us doing the best that I can with what I got.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to go hiking Chattanooga River near Marieta. There are so many beautiful hikes, for good music and cheap drinks. I’ll take them to Bulldogs if they’re trying to turn up. Maybe play some pool at Friends on Pond on a Friday night. Go to the city market to explore some food and a walk on the beltline having ice cream.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are five main characters to my story who I owe most of my journey to:

Lamb Rahming CEO/ Founder of Frolic

Lamb has been a friend much longer than a business partner and uniting our visions and believing in my projects allowed me to flourish.

Seth Pearson Founder of Pearson’s Playbook

Who is my best friend and has been that person who will support me in every decision, and always willing to share and talk things through.

Family: Beth Silva/ Thais Pego/ Daniela Esteves

These three family members represent the structure. I would say my base line for everything they’ve been with me since day one, and I have always been my pillars in and building the person who I became, and a close witness of all of my success.
