We had the good fortune of connecting with The Healthy Youth USA Foundation and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Healthy Youth USA Foundation, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of our foundation is being consistent and attentive to the families we serve. Every single school day for the past 17 years, The foundation has been open for service, providng quality care and a safe environment for children during out of school hours. Our success comes from simple making sure we are always there and available for families in need.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Healthy Youth USA is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to enhancing the lives of young people through positive youth development and recreation. That objective is accomplished through the delivery of mentoring, performing arts, athletic, and recreational programs. Since our creation in 2004, our commitment to elementary age children, nurturing their health; physical, psychological, and emotional growth, supports their development into well- adjusted, purposeful, and productive members of their communities. Operating in the North Atlanta (Sandy Springs and Dunwoody) community, we are the largest private after-school program in North Atlanta, serving more than 100 children daily (Monday-Friday).

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our Summer Camp participants have accumulated many favorite spots in the city over the years. The Healthy Youth Foundation takes some of the best field trips in the city. Our favorite spots include visiting the World of Coke, The home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Atlanta Braves Stadium tours and one of Atlanta’s public park pools on a hot day! One of our favorite parks is Morgan Falls Park located right in the heart of Sandy Springs. Last summer, we added 2 new field trips to our favorite spots to see. We took a tour of the High Museum of Art and Also visited the Governors Mansion which included enjoying one of the most beautiful gardens in the city of Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to give a shoutout to the City of Sandy Springs. Sandy Springs has shown their dedication to many local organizations like ours that are able to offer recreational opportunities to underserved Sandy Springs citizens. The city has been dedicated enhancing the quality of programs currently offered by the City to better serve the underserved community. Sandy Springs has granted The Healthy Youth USA Foundation recreational grants that allows many children who live in the community to attend our programs at an affordable rate.
