We had the good fortune of connecting with The Funny Bombshell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Funny Bombshell, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Most people believe that “faith without works is dead.” That if you’re not tirelessly working towards your goals you’ll never see them come to fruition. I believe the opposite. When I began my journey as an entertainer I had no idea where to start. I would often pray to God for assistance in figuring things out such as how to edit videos, or simply the inspiration for a funny video. At times, I would find myself struggling with feelings of not working hard enough. During those times, I would also pray that God help me to find the motivation to create content, and help me to keep the determination I had going. And he always did.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I grew up in Little Haiti which is in Miami, FL. and making it out of that hood was no easy feat, but I knew I had to so that I could give back. There was so much art and diversity in the area which prompted my creativity. I instantly grew a passion for the performing arts. I fondly remember sitting in a music class during my fifth grade year and hearing my instructor ask us if we wanted to apply for a Magnet program. I didn’t know what it was, nor what the qualifications were, but since I’d been asked I wanted to apply. I soon after auditioned and was accepted into Norland Middle School’s Magnet program for Drama. I later attended New World School of the Arts high school with a concentration in theatre, and then matriculated on to Florida State University’s BFA Acting program.
I am particularly proud of the fact that I was first in my family to graduate from college and that I trail-blazed my own path in Acting through social media. I also started own my own videography business The Funny Bombshell Entertainment, LLC with a mission to “provide quality video production with a touch of humor” and a clothing line “Bombshell Est. Since 1992”. My funny videos have been reposted by various celebs such as Saucy Santana, Lil Duval, K. Michelle, Plies, & Ball Greezy to name a few. I was also recently awarded YouTube’s Silver Creator Award for passing 100,000 subscribers. It feels amazing to know that I am able to make so many people laugh by simply being myself, but with the platform comes responsibility. So many young people are watching me and looking up to me. I strive to create content that is relatable and appropriate while remaining authentic to my characters Nay$Nay, Terell , and Cecilia.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m such a foodie! Some of my favorite spots include: Blaqhaus in Marietta – their brunch menu is everything!
Atlanta Breakfast Club – what can I say, I love brunching… LOL
Peach Cobbler Cafe in Buckhead – I can see why they call it Peach Cobbler Cafe — the cobbler is to DIE for!
I also suggest visiting the State Farm Arena for a Basketball game (even though I’m a Heat fan LOL) and The Fox theatre has some great shows!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this to myself; for always believing, always trusting, and always knowing that God had a plan for my brand.
