We had the good fortune of connecting with Thabiana Jeanty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thabiana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always embraced art as a leisurely pursuit, driven by a genuine passion for creation. Initially, the notion of making it big seemed distant. That is until college, when requests for my artwork turned into paid commission—spanning portraits, logos, album covers etc. — I began to seriously consider turning my passion into a thriving craft. The decision to establish a brand/business doing what I love became the greatest honor I could envision.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My uniqueness lies in being authentically myself; art, fundamentally an idea, distinguishes us through its expression. In my artistic journey, I aim to celebrate the exceptional essence of the black woman. My professional growth has been a result of prayer, hard work, and a persistent passion that adds joy and curiosity to the challenges I face. Upholding my worth has been a pivotal lesson shaping the path walk. I want the world to know what drives me, is a profound love for my craft. I aim to evoke emotion and impact with every creation. If my art made you feel something, then I fulfilled my purpose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I tend to be more of a homebody, but I’d love to share some local gems with my friend. One spot I adore is Terra café in downtown Easton a charming place with music, plants, delectable baked goods and amazing smoothies. The idea of taking them to the drive-in movie appeals to me because it has a unique and cool touch to the experience. A visit to the Asante Art Gallery in Palmer Park Mall, showcasing exquisite handcrafted African art and jewelry would most definitely be on the agenda. The Lehigh valley area, both has a substantial, yet somewhat understated art culture, and I’d relish the opportunity to introduce my friend to It’s diverse, creative seen exploring these places together would be delightful way to showcase the distinctive charm of our local area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey as an artist is a culmination of diverse influences and the unwavering support of incredible individuals. My greatest gratitude extends to my mother for life, relentless prayers, and encouragement, My mentors and friends whose consistent motivation and reaffirmations inspires me to creatively surpass my limits, Northampton Community College for fine art education, and an ex-boyfriend whose gift of Procreate set my digital art journey in motion. A special thanks to his uncle, whose Christmas gift funded my Apple Pencil. Create & Be Studio and Rebellious played pivotal roles, providing platforms for my art to shine. My village of supporters throughout my journey lives on in every piece I create.
