Hi Teya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process in starting Meshay & Madison Events, LLC was that I wanted to give my daughter the gift of entrepreneurship. We love to decorate, organize, and help people. Coordinating events with my daughter allows me to spend more time with her, bond with her, and leave a legacy that she can pass on to her kids.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Meshay & Madison Events, LLC is an event planning & coordinating boutique. Mother-daughter owned business that caters to small and big events of all kinds. One of our services that I am most proud of is Travel Hostess. Our travel hostess service provides clients that are interested in vacationing in Atlanta, GA. We assist in lodging, transportation, and entertainment. We also provide concierge services during their stay which can include hiring an in-house chef to providing custom gift baskets for all guests of essential items needed during their stay. Other services we provide are event planning and day-of coordinating. By faith, belief in self, hard work, determination and word of mouth has gotten me to where I am today. It has not been easy as I learn this industry and the business of event planning, however I continue to learn and collaborate with other event planners. I am constantly attending workshops, watching Youtube, and practicing on my craft. I eat, sleep, and breathe this industry. The most important lessons I have learned is to do it afraid. Don’t let fear stop you from your dreams. The other lesson is if you don’t believe in yourself, then no one will. I want the world to know that I am a woman that puts love in everything I do. My purpose is to help make others’ lives better. If I can do that by creating beautiful and memorable events or even eliminating any obstacles on their special day, then I will do it. Showing my daughter that no matter what life throws at her, anything is possible with God by her side is my other purpose. At the end of the day, I want to create something beautiful for others, while my daughter is by my side.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Travel hostessing is one of our services, so this is a great question. Once my best friend arrives, I will pick her upand bring her to my home. In the guestroom, she will be treated with a gift basket of all of her favorite things and more. The next day, we would have breakfast at Thumbs Up Diner, next we would walk it off at Botanical Gardens. We would grab lunch at Slutty Vegan. Evening, we would go to Cigar Bar for dinner, drinks, and mingling. We would visit restaurants such as Gocha’s Breakfast Bar, Pappadeux, Harold Chicken & Ice Bar, Old Lady Gang. We would ride bikes on the Beltline, Hike at Amicalola Falls, Ride Scooters downtown, ride the Ferris Wheel, catch a Braves Game and listen to live music at St James Live We would dance all night at Suite Lounge & Koo Koo Room. We would enjoy a day party at Whiskey Mistress. Of course this is all before Covid-19

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out to my great Aunt. She recently passed in August 2020. She was and still is my Shero. I get my eye for decor, organization, and planning skills from her. She played an integral part in my upbringing and was one of my biggest supporters when I decided to start my business. I watched her always helping others in so many ways and she never complained. She enjoyed making things look nice. She would always tell me that it is about the presentation.
