Meet Terry Ware Sr: Book Publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Terry Ware Sr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terry, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a God given idea. I can remember looking for publishers to publish my first book, I found that a lot publishing companies charge quite a bit. I didn’t know anything about the publishing process but I knew I couldn’t afford the prices I was coming across..lol I was introduced to a lady that said she would help me publish my book and the price she gave me was a really good price compared to everything I’d seen. However, she ended up just taking my money and I was left with a Google document full of my poetry and could no longer get in contact with her. That experience left me discouraged. Not long after that I was introduced to a publisher with great prices and actually worked with me through the publishing process to make sure it was just what I wanted. After publishing my first book I felt like I had accomplished something great. That feeling left me wanting to help others feel that same feeling or greater! A few years later I was riding and God dropped the name of my company in my spirit, B.O.S.S. Publishing. I went home and my wife and I came up with the meaning, Building Opportunities Stirring Success. From there, B.O.S.S. Publishing was born.

What should our readers know about your business?
We have recently revamped our business and changed the Umbrella name to B.O.S.S. & Company, LLC. Under this umbrella are 3 DBAs(Doing Business As): B.O.S.S. Publishing, B.O.S.S. Productions, and B.O.S.S. Clothing and Apparel. For B.O.S.S. Publishing , we are now working to create as many Self-Published Authors as we can in which we take care of the Editing, Formatting, and Book Cover design then walk you through the Self-Publishing process from beginning to end. Our job is not done until your book is published. What sets us apart from other companies is that we believe in you presenting a professional product that your readers can appreciate while they are reading the lines of your life or story. Being a Self-Published Author means you are now an Entrepreneur, and that in itself can open so many opportunities. This gives us great excitement because it’s simply what our Brand stands for, Building Opportunities Stirring Success, we give you the opportunity to be successful while encouraging you to go out and share what you learn along the way. How did I get to where I am today, this story in itself is quite lengthy, but I’ll shorten it a bit..lol All throughout school I hated English, upon graduating, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do. I ended up in the military, still unsure of what I wanted to do. Left the military thinking I would do music, however, that didn’t happen. Worked several jobs along the way still uncertain of what I wanted to do, but there was this itch inside of me that knew I wanted to be an Entrepreneur. It was definitely not an easy journey, many many bumps, bruises and disappointments came with the journey but by the love of God, I kept searching and searching and endeavoring to hear from Him. It would be through publishing my first book that things would start to open my mind. Along my journey I learned that it’s not about having it all together, in fact most of us still don’t have it all together, it’s simply about being able to open your mind to new possibilities through every disappointment. Don’t allow discouragement to linger, sure it will come, but you have to endeavor to keep pushing forward no matter what. Our Brand is a family Brand, a Brand that promotes unselfishness, a Brand that encourages others to be open to helping others and not closed minded in thinking that you’re the only one that need to be doing a certain thing, but realizing that there’s enough room in this world for each of us to be great! We don’t have to hold information from each other, because God has things for each of us and even if we’re in the same field we will do things in different ways but will still accomplish the same goal, to provide a great service or product.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One exciting and thought provoking places that I would take someone would be to Escapology located in downtown Montgomery, AL. A great place to get a little fun excitement! A few restaurants that I really enjoy are Wintzell’s Oyster House, Central, and Firebirds. The food at these establishments are Magnificent!!
