Meet Terry Lamonte: Master Barber , Barber Instructor, & Business Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Terry Lamonte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terry, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued my career because I seen the opportunity in it with vision of future goals. Being a professional barber led me to new levels in my life since I began back in 2013. It allows me to be flexible in my schedule while being able to be myself. I can create haircuts that are fitting to the clients head and then my haircut is off into the world for people to see. It helps me network as well in barbering because I meet incredible clients everyday. Barbering is my way of performing my art and creativity to pass on positivity in each of my clients’ mind.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Heavenly Pleasure Barber Shop is a place where people of all kind can come to receive a plethora professional barbering services. We, at Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop, strive for excellence and look to make a change in not just Statesboro, Georgia but also the world. Since starting Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop in 2019, it has received the “Best of Boro” Award for Best Barbershop of 2020, ‘Discovering Bulloch Readers Choice Award” for the Most Amazing Hairstylist in 2020, and received honors from The NAACP of Bulloch County for our work in the community in 2021. The story behind Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop started back in 2013 when I was incarcerated for a few months. While being incarcerated, my detail was barbering where I cut hundreds of inmates for free 5 days out of the week. During this time, I began to grow a passion for the skill of barbering. Since then, I received my master barber & barber instructor license as well as a business degree along my barbering career. While doing so, I continued my journey in barbershops until Covid-19 came about and changed everything. Due to this, barbershops was closed, but fortunately, I started my business LLC’s in 2019 and had a personal barber studio at my house. Having this backup barber shop inside my home helped me during the pandemic. I was able to license my shop at home and Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop was was born. Since these events, Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop has grown to our new location at (300 East Main Street Suite A Statesboro, Georgia 30458) where we have 6 barbers ready to serve our clients. Although the journey wasn’t easy, I learned that being determined and learning how to motivate and believe in yourself can help you overcome any obstacles that may come our way. Having my career as a barber and shop owner helped humble me even more in life and I am forever thankful for it. It’s never how you start, but how you finish and Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop is proof to that very statement. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
With all of the success that’s been coming my way over the years, I wouldn’t feel as if it will be possible without God of course. My children plays a key role since they give me motivation to keep pushing in life. My family, who morally supports me along the way , is a huge factor as well because they keep me on track and focused on how coming together and cherishing each other over time when we are able to. I also wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of my clients and fans. The love I have for people in life is important to me because without them, I couldn’t grow as a professional barber.
