Hi Terrilski, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I am deeply passionate about launching a gourmet popcorn brand that aims to bring comfort and joy to our community,
especially in the aftermath of the pandemic. Our vision is to create a comfort stack with many different flavors that resonate with everyone, becoming a beloved treat that families can enjoy together. Through the simple pleasure of gourmet popcorn, we aspire to foster connections and reunite families, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences. The Poppin in the City brand venture and brand goes beyond just offering a delicious snack; it symbolizes a commitment to rebuilding social bonds and creating moments of togetherness that we all need. I believe that our gourmet popcorn brand can play a meaningful role in bringing people together and contributing to the overall well-being of our community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sets us apart at Poppin in the City is our distinctive position as the sole full-service gourmet popcorn store in the city, featuring an innovative “build a bag” concept for all in-store orders. This unique approach allows our customers to customize their popcorn experience, catering to a diverse range of tastes and preferences. What I am most proud of and excited about is the unwavering support we’ve received from our family and the local community during our initial two years. Their enthusiasm and patronage have been instrumental in our growth and success, making each step of this journey deeply fulfilling. From a business perspective, my path to this point has been paved through continuous education, invaluable mentorships, and hands-on experience gained through my role as a coach and consultant. This multifaceted approach has equipped me with the knowledge and technical expertise needed to navigate the dynamic landscape of the gourmet popcorn industry, shaping Poppin in the City into the thriving and unique establishment it is today. I’ve learned to execute fast and correct any mistakes or setbacks immediately while remaining consistent with service to the market and customers. We want the world to know this, if you see a big problem don’t be afraid to solve it in the form of a business that bring solutions to the community.

Austin Peay State University Campus (where I recently graduated from): to explore the beautiful campus owith its architectural charm, green spaces, and cultural events.
