We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell Sass and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrell, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I personally believe that risk taking is definitely a necessity. The cliché “no risk no rewards“ is extremely accurate. For my personal situation, the first main risk that I took was leaving traditional college early to move to Atlanta to follow my dream. That is definitely not an easy decision for most people. I felt so convicted and believed in my talent so much that I just knew once I got to a city like Atlanta, that is a music friendly city, my talent and passion would get me to ultimately want to go.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a music producer, and a Multi instrumentalist also. My natural instrument is the Drums. The main ingredients that helped my ascension in my field were My open mind, My ability to stay, humble, my willingness to learn, my passion for what I do, my ability to adapt, and over arching visits that always fueled me when times got hard! My road is definitely not been easy, especially coming to a city like Atlanta, where everyone is extremely talented. I overcame certain challenges by always coming up with creative ways to go over under or through whatever challenge well. For instance, everybody to go to Apache Café on Wednesday, my mind told me that if everyone is at Apache on Wednesday, that means nobody is everywhere else, so that’s a good night to go somewhere else and shine. That philosophy helped me get noticed a little quicker than the average musician back in those days! One of the big lessons that I learned is sometimes politics, access in business sense trumps natural talent and ability!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First thing we would do is leave the airport and go straight to Spondivits and get a few crab buckets. Next, we would probably go to Phipps Plaza or Lenox Mall. We would definitely hang in Buckhead for a while while Dave would probably go to five points or the Avalon in Alpharetta. We would just go from suburb to suburb, enjoying the best parts of each one!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
