We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell Dinkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrell, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I am on a personal mission to help close the wealth gap. My personal and business brand are all about personal finance and solutions to the wealth gap problem. Both of my books, which I label as “The Wealth Bundle,” are designed to help individuals get off of the sidelines and start getting their financial house in order by way of saving, investing, and working on their credit. I figured the best way for someone like me (who isn’t famous yet) to reach the masses is through my writing (I am now a two-time best-selling author).

When I created the name for my company, One Bucket Nation, I thought about how I could solve the wealth gap problem. I envisioned a nation full of wealth-builders all finding ways to fill their money buckets. I take every opportunity, using social media and the stage to talk to groups about building wealth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have two companies, One Bucket Nation and OBN Wealth Advisors. One Bucket Nation is my company through which I publish books and professionally speak. I am also the President and Founder of OBN Wealth Advisors, an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm that primarily focuses on wealth-building strategies, financial planning, and investing for women. I am proud that I have branded myself as the go-to person on personal finance and wealth building. I’m equally proud of my courage to step out on my own to start my firm. There aren’t that many RIA firms ran by women of color. I want the world to know I/we exist (female ran firms).

I’ve learned to work on the things I fear the most first. Tackling your fears makes the rest of the process easy!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had family and friends coming to Atlanta to visit, I would start my day with breakfast at home and end my day with dinner on my deck. I would throw a family BBQ. In between breakfast and dinner, I would take them on a personal site-seeing tour of my lovely city (I am an Atlanta Native). We would tour the Coca-Cola museum and the aquarium plaza. If I have a few girlfriends visiting, we would definitely drive out to Alpharetta and visit The Ginger Room ( a tea room). I am a “foodie,” and Atlanta has the finest of every type of food you would want to eat. My day of fun would be based on what my guests would like to do.  Atlanta has it all and one of the best cities in the country for entertainment!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will always shout out my friend, Sonia Booker, who encouraged me to write my first book. Her encouragement was the spark I needed that ignited the fire in me to write. Now, I am a two-time author, and my second book became an Amazon bestseller!
