We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrance Donte’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrance, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Taking chances has been one of the most important factors in my success as a creative professional. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to see one of my jacket designs featured in the movie No Honor, Loyalty, or Love, produced by Boosie. This milestone came about because I took the initiative to connect with a member of the wardrobe team. Although I sent several pieces for consideration, there was no guarantee that any of them would make it into the film. To my surprise and excitement, one of my jackets appeared in a prominent scene, which was a tremendous confidence boost for me as a designer. This experience reinforced the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone, taking risks, and believing in my vision.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart as a creative professional is my photographic eye and attention to composition. As a recording artist myself, I understand the importance of creating eye-catching promotional photography paired with fashion that not only stands out but also embodies the artist’s identity. In today’s clout-driven music scene, one of my greatest challenges has been earning the trust of emerging artists who may hesitate to embrace my vision because I’m not backed by a major corporation or a household name. However, my journey has taught me the value of storytelling—about myself, my process, and what I bring to the table as a creative visualizer.

One of the first celebrities to wear my designs was Recording Artist E-Ness from MTV’s Making the Band, which served as an early milestone in my career. This experience reinforced my commitment to excellence in my designs and photography and my dedication to supporting the creative community. I’m proud to stand on the principles of authenticity and meaningful artistry, particularly as someone who remembers a time when hip hop was not embraced by mainstream America. Back then, we wore that exclusion as a badge of honor, which shaped my perspective. While times have changed and hip hop is now a dominant cultural force, I remain rooted in the idea that the art should always be used with integrity—not just for clout or exploitation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As someone originally from West Philly but having spent most of my life in Chester County, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the diverse experiences the area offers—especially when it comes to food and entertainment. If I were hosting a friend, I’d start by introducing them to some iconic local eats. Though I lean toward a “veganish” lifestyle (I do eat fish), no visit to Philly is complete without a cheesesteak. Dalessandro’s or Max’s Steaks would be at the top of the list. For a more plant-forward option, Veganish in West Philly offers creative, flavorful dishes, while Suad’s Soul Food at the Fresh Grocer is a must-try for comfort food lovers.

Out in Chester County, Phoenixville’s Soko Bag serves up incredible Korean fried chicken that’s worth the trip. And when I’m in the mood for something different, I don’t mind traveling—Baltimore’s R. House is a favorite spot, offering a dynamic food hall experience with a mix of cuisines.

For entertainment, I’d recommend checking out Fresh The Legend’s showcase and open mic, which highlights both emerging and established artists. It’s not just a platform for creativity but also a space that promotes a positive, no-death culture. Whether it’s food or music, there’s so much in the area to explore and enjoy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One of the most impactful experiences of my life came through the Men’s Basketball Fellowship at Bible Baptist Church in West Chester. It was there that I met Sherwin Price and Roland Thompson, two Black professional men who inspired me profoundly. They showed me that everything I aspired to in life—success, stability, and fulfillment—was attainable through legitimate means. At the time, I was in a transitional period, moving away from a street mentality where my only examples of success were tied to illegal activities. Their guidance and example helped reshape my perspective, motivating me to strive for a better path and become a better man.
