We had the good fortune of connecting with Tenille Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tenille, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I can remember, I’ve always had a great love and passion for creating. Whether it was writing stories, drawing, writing poetry, singing/writing songs……the fact that I could pull something out from my mind, to live in reality, always fascinated me and gave me an incredible sense of accomplishment. In pursuing my career, I wanted to put my time and effort into something that would allow me to use the most authentic part of myself, my creativity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I found blogging and photography at a time of uncertainty about my job, sadness around my mother’s passing, and new joy in the birth of my daughter. It was an interesting mix of conditions that pushed me into taking a complete entrepreneurial leap. I am most proud that I was able to turn all of that into something purposeful, impactful, and healing. Although it hasn’t been easy, its most definitely been worth it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d visit Little 5 Points and Ponce City Market to shop and hang out, Serenbe Farms (outside the city) to embrace some stillness and nature. We’d do breakfast at Le Petit Marche, grab a vegan snack at Wadada Healthy Market & Juice Bar, and dinner from Negril Village.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shoutout my mom! She made it a priority to nurture my creativity and expose me to the arts and culture.
