We had the good fortune of connecting with Tempest and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tempest, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Your attitude determines your latitude. People can argue about the quality of my music, the decency of my look, and the effort I exert creating but My proudest attribute is my great attitude. As long as I show up willing to work, the work tends to show up for me as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music began as spoken word and I consider myself a lyricist. Usually, my goal is to find a happy medium between my playful personality and my chronicles through life with my storytelling. I used social media HEAVILY to gain traction and utilize it to the best of my ability. The lessons I’ve learned can boil down to 2 words: KEEP GOING. When nobody’s listening, when life not going how u planned, through grief and heartbreak, on beautiful sunny content days: keep going. Never get discouraged by the low moments and always be encouraged by the highest of highs. I want the world to know I’m coming😈 and either way it goes… ima keep going!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re definitely hitting Cru and Esco on Peter St. My boujie friends stay away from Edgewood but that’s a close second lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was 15-17 years old I discovered spoken word as one of my talents. LIFTO (Leveraging Information For Tomorrow Ourselves; founded by Ryan Coleman) was an organization that showed me I was actually good and gave me some business tools to navigate the world and industry. Ryan stressed ethic, punctuality, and a good time. As an adult I still use the connections I made and knowledge I acquired as a teen to push me through certain doors.
