We had the good fortune of connecting with Teiyana Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teiyana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting My Heavens Paradise LLC Beauty Supply Store was deeply rooted in a desire to empower black and brown entrepreneurs. I saw a gap in the market where many talented individuals, particularly from these communities, were creating remarkable beauty products in their own spaces but often lacked the resources and support to bring them to a wider audience. I envisioned my store as a platform to showcase and promote these entrepreneurs, providing them with the visibility and opportunities they deserved. Moreover, I wanted to create a welcoming space where customers could not only access high-quality beauty products but also learn about the stories and journeys behind them, fostering a sense of community and empowerment. In essence, My Heavens Paradise is not just a business; it’s a celebration of diversity, creativity, and entrepreneurship within the beauty industry.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets My Heavens Paradise apart is our unwavering commitment to celebrating and promoting black and brown entrepreneurs. We’re not just a beauty supply store; we’re a platform for these talented individuals to showcase their products and stories. Every item on our shelves represents a journey of creativity, passion, and perseverance, and that’s something truly special.

I’m particularly proud of the sense of community we’ve fostered within our store. Customers don’t just come here to shop; they come to connect, learn, and be inspired. Seeing the joy and empowerment on their faces when they discover new products or hear the stories behind them is incredibly rewarding.

Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy. Like any business venture, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges along the way. From navigating the intricacies of the beauty industry to overcoming logistical hurdles, there have been moments where it felt like the odds were stacked against us.

However, what sets us apart is our resilience and determination to overcome these challenges. We’ve learned to adapt, innovate, and find creative solutions to whatever obstacles come our way. Whether it’s forging partnerships with local artisans or leveraging digital marketing strategies to reach a wider audience, we’ve always been willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of perseverance and staying true to your vision, even when faced with adversity. Every setback has been an opportunity for growth, and it’s these challenges that have ultimately made us stronger and more resilient as a business.

What I want the world to know about My Heavens Paradise is that we’re more than just a beauty supply store. We’re a beacon of empowerment, diversity, and creativity within the beauty industry. Our mission is to uplift and amplify the voices of black and brown entrepreneurs, and we’re committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On a week-long journey through Atlanta, we’d start with Southern delights at Flying Biscuit Café before diving into the wonders of the Georgia Aquarium, an underwater haven for the whole family. Evenings are spent savoring diverse flavors at Ponce City Market, followed by leisurely strolls along the BeltLine. Days are filled with botanical wonders at Atlanta Botanical Garden, playful picnics in Piedmont Park, and explorations of puppetry at the Center for Puppetry Arts. Evenings bring hearty dinners at beloved Southern institutions like Mary Mac’s Tea Room and The Colonnade Restaurant. Thrilling adventures await at Zoo Atlanta and the medieval spectacle of Medieval Times. For a taste of nostalgia, we’d tour the World of Coca-Cola and delve into the depths of SeaQuest. Interactive fun abounds at Children’s Museum Atlanta and Catch Air, ensuring laughter and learning for the little ones. And for a shopping and relaxation fix, Sugarloaf Mills Mall and tranquil Old Mill Park offer diverse experiences to round out our Atlanta adventure. Each day holds its own enchanting journey, promising unforgettable moments and cherished memories in the heart of Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, there are several sources of inspiration and support that have played pivotal roles in my journey. Firstly, I want to dedicate my shoutout to the authors of the books that have profoundly influenced my mindset and propelled me forward. Books like “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” “Be Obsessed or Be Average,” “The 48 Laws of Power,” “12 Rules for Life,” and “Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success” have been like guiding lights, offering wisdom and perspective as I navigated the path of entrepreneurship and personal development.

While I haven’t had a formal mentor yet, I’m actively seeking one because I understand the immense value of having someone who can offer guidance, wisdom, and support based on their own experiences.

On a deeply personal level, the love and encouragement of my children are what fuel my determination and keep me moving forward, even during the toughest times. Their unwavering belief in me pushes me to strive for greatness every day.

And last but certainly not least, I must acknowledge and express gratitude to God. Without His grace and guidance, none of this would be possible. He is the ultimate source of strength, wisdom, and inspiration in my life, and I owe all my successes to Him.
