We had the good fortune of connecting with Tea Cup and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In 2014, I saw a foresight of people wanting to step into their purpose and pursue all the things they were taught was unrealistic growing up.

Back then, Instagram had only been out a few years and had just allowed us to start using video longer than 10 secs. So I started recording YouTube videos and interviews with my peers who do cool things and document the journey of where they’re going,

I saw what Atlanta would become today (a city of entrepreneurship, thriving black culture, and community.) And wanted to help creatives build on the basis of their ideas and help them elevate to the next level. I wanted to do this by first working with performing artists.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
spilltheTEA is a community development agency and media platform that started out with content highlighting creatives, then events, and has now grown to helping major brands grow their communities through content and events.

What set us apart is our 3D animated content. We recreated Cita’s World from BET with “The Countdown” and we have a series called “Jumped Into The Metaverse,” as well as our open floor that we keep to give artists of all levels a space to test out new songs.

Some of our past and current clients we’ve worked with are A3C Festival, Cxmmunity Co Gaming, Taste of Soul Festival, New Georgia Project, Red Bull, Young MA, AveryB, Kalenbree & more.

The journey definitely has not been easy. Navigating the changing climate of content and events (especially in Atlanta) keeps you on your toes. We have to constantly study what keeps people engaged and new ways to activate in Atlanta.

One lesson I’ve learned is to always be open to new relationships. Each individual we meet has something we can learn from whether it’s their background, experience, or life lessons they’ve learned. Keeping good relationships is what takes us far in entertainment. Lots of our peers have many resources and also being a resource to others takes us far.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whew! Too many to name. Honestly, Atlanta has grown to provide a plethora of experiences depending on what you’re interested in from free festivals at Piedmont park to fun DIY workshops.

I would most likely refer them to some content pages (specifically Hungry Homegirl) where there’s a variety of restaurants and in-person experiences to choose from.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my peers at the University of West Georgia and my classmates from MLK High School. These are the original group of people I created my platform for and they still encourage and support me til this day.
