We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor/Mekinnah Duncan/Currie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor/Mekinnah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
In one word, personalization. Our desire is for anyone to walk in the door and feel comfortable, educated, well-cared for and cared about. We strive to customize our treatment plans to accomodate the individual needs of our patients. We want to get to know each one of our patients not only aesthetically, but individually as a person. We want to develop a trusting relatioship with every patient we encounter. Our goal is to create a culture in which our patients feel welcomed to pop in on their day off, grab a cup of coffee, or hang out and do work from our cozy reception area.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LŪM was founded based on a strong desire and passion for people, aesthetics, and overall skin health. After diving into the industry, Taylor found a lapse in professionally guided aesthetics and skin-care therapy. It was clear that the industry had produced certain stigmas and it became a goal to focus on the patient rather than profit. After years of discussing opening a practice with her husband, the timing was right. Cory has played a huge role as not only a supportive husband but also as the Medical Director. Getting to where we are today was certainly not easy. With a combined 23 years of nursing experience, marriage, children, Master’s Degrees, and various professional opportunities, the concept of LŪM aesthetics and skincare came to fruition. After working together in a previous position, it became clear to Taylor and Mekinnah that their bond was unique and that their goals, values, and work ethic aligned. They knew that this working relationship would thrive in the right culture, thus LŪM aesthetics and skincare was born.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To start our morning off right, our favorite place to workout is 9 Round Fitness with Marty in Braselton, following, a protein shake or loaded tea at either Old Mill Nutrition or JaxCo. Our favorite lunch spot is Sarazen’s at Chateau Elan or Jack’s Local Station in downtown Braselton. For dinner, we love grabbing a drink and charcuterie board at Blake’s of Braselton followed by dinner at Cotton Calf. If you are craving a dessert, Juke N Jive is a local super unique and retro ice cream parlor. What we love most about these establishments is that they are all friendly, locally-owned and operated, and have a mom and pop vibe, which is what makes this area so special.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Life is all about inspiring others, and one of our biggest inspirations is Ansley Branch, NP-C, Owner of Muse skin health | aesthetics. Not only is she an incredible provider, but she is one of the most encouraging and positive mentors in the business. Her business is thriving due to her stellar reputation, incredible personality, and commitment to giving her patients exceptional results. She is the definition of a “Boss Babe.”
