We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Maurer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, surrounded by a family full of women. I think having women in my life that truly enjoyed elevating homemaking really impacted me as a mother today. Those simple moments that were made extra special growing up are what I’ve always admired and am inspired to do for my family. Food, decor, and crafting are a huge part of how I’m able to create those memorable moments with my family. Celebrating the everyday became a passion of mine and I wanted to share it with other moms. So I got on Instagram and started sharing simple, yet impactful ways to create memories with their families too.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been a creative person. Photography was a huge passion of mine for years before having kids. Once I had kids, my focus started to be more on them and homemaking. I started to discover so much joy in creating those “picture perfect” moments with my family and sharing them with friends and family. I really loved documenting pretty parties, yummy recipes, and festive home decor. For three years I played around with the idea of creating a community of moms filled with tons of inspiration. I came to a point where my oldest was going into kindergarten and I just thought it’s now or never, take the plunge. So I did, and it has become one of my biggest accomplishments to date. Content creating is a nonstop job, and it’s constantly evolving and changing. Hours of researching and learning goes into it all. I’ve taught myself how to network and pitch to brands, and I’ve formed amazing relationships along the way. I’ve been able to work with brands like Staples, TruMoo, Packed Party, and Reebok to name a few. Im so proud of my little corner of the internet and the community I’ve built.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Chicago is filled with so many fun activities! My perfect weekend in the city would include a trip to Lincoln park zoo, it’s free and is a ton of fun. You have to stop by JoJo’s Shake Bar for the most epic festive drinks and shakes! Deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati’s is a must too. Lastly I’d recommend Headquarters Beercade, it’s a retro arcade and bar/pub!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t do what I do if it wasn’t for my family. Naturally I like to keep to myself as I am quite introverted, but my husband has always encouraged me to face my fears and be a light by helping inspire other families to create special memories in attainable ways.
