Meet Taylor Logan | Salon Owner & Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Logan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, how do you think about risk?
When thinking about opening a business, risk is the first thought that comes to mind. Risk for me means what do I have to lose? At the end of the day it is about risk assessment. As a hairdresser I had specific risk factors to consider. How loyal was my clientele? Where did the majority of them live? How booked out were my books? If I opened a business, what was my total investment if I lost it all? These questions were just a start. I had to look myself in the mirror and ask myself was it worth the risk of losing it all and starting over and what were the odds of that happening? Personally, my calculated answers told me to take the risk of opening my own salon. I knew I would regret not pursing my dream more than taking the risk and failing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a balayage + French cutting specialist. I believe what sets me apart is the pairing of quality work with an amazing customer service experience. I think as a client finding the two can be challenging. I want every guest to leave feeling like the best versions of themselves inside & out. I got to where I am today by the training I received at a top salon in Buckhead, Jamison Shaw Hairdressers. When I started I knew it would be one of the hardest things I would ever do but the most rewarding. Aside from doing quality hair, I believe truly listening and understanding your clients wants and needs is the most important. It’s a relationship that lasts for years, hopefully. You have to know when to say “No”, “Sorry”, and own up to your mistakes. When you take the time to have a really thorough consultations to make your clients happy, it’s up to you years into the relationship to still check in to make sure they’re still satisfied even if they do the same services every time. At the end of the day, we are all human beings and want to feel a connection. Good hair is just a plus!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it was a nice day, I would definitely take them to the belt line. I love to be active! There are so many great spots for brunch, drinks and any type of food. I would start with Brunch at Lady Bird. Stop by Ponce City Market for a H & F Burger for lunch & some shopping/games on the rooftop. End the night at Barcelona Wine Bar in Inman Park. Next I think the most iconic place is Centennial Olympic Park. I would check out the World of Coke and the Aquarium. I would plan a dinner in West Midtown and checkout Forza Storico (sit outside on the patio) and get Jeni’s ice cream for dessert. If you want good shopping and to explore the burbs, I think The Avalon is fun on a nice day. Great shopping and tons of restaurant options. The restaurant I couldn’t live without is Superica; its the best Tex Mex & Margaritas in town.
