We had the good fortune of connecting with Taye Rashad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taye, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote would have to be “Scared money don’t make no money”. I chose this quote because being a new and upcoming stylist or business in general sometimes we have to create those opportunities. This quote constantly pushes me to go out and create opportunities that sometimes involve cold calling or volunteering my services for free so that I can create content to showcase my work. By doing this sometimes yes it a lose but I think in the end it will be more rewarding.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a styling service, we will source, pull, and style you for any event you have coming up, We also offer personal shopping in which we will do all of the shopping for clients and will personally hand-deliver them or ship them to you. For us what sets us apart is we like to offer an experience known as #TheTayeRashadExperience in which each client is provided with top-tier services to create the feeling of being a celebrity. For as being proud, I would have to say it’s business steadily growing and also receiving repeat clients and referrals from the services provided by our team. Business wise I got to where I am today by sticking true to myself and also ensuring that each and every client is pleased with the outcome. Was it easy, no there were times when I wanted to give up and not pursue this as a career however, it’s not something I can just turn away from? Styling brings such joy and happiness to my life and then also being able to style others and seeing their reaction to what you selected for them is a feeling that is unmatched. For overcoming the challenges I would constantly remind myself you can do this, the business may be slow right now but it will pick up. If I had to pick one lesson that I have learned it is if you feel that this would not be a good partnership, it’s okay to say no. It’s not that you are turning down business but it is more that you have found a specific niche in which you would like to focus and just because a person may not be a good fit for you, there could be a colleague in which this person would be an ideal fit for.
I would like for the world to know that #StyleByTayeRashad is a growing business with a true passion for fashion, to us it is not a hobby but it is a lifestyle. While location wise we are centralized within Atlanta, Georgia, we will travel for our clients. Our primary goal and focus are to craft an experience while also embracing our clients’ beauty.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Best friend coming into town first thing we would have to do would be shopping. We can visit Phillips Plaza, Shoppes at Buckhead, and a few of the outlets within the city. For food, places like the Southern Gentlemen, 5Church, Two Urban Licks, The Sugar Factory, and a steakhouse, kinda offer a variety. Entertainment-wise, we would visit a bar for a good drink, museums, visit a spa, and a speakeasy. Lastly, we would plan a trip to the Chateau Elan as our get away from the city, enjoy nice wine, views, etc.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me, I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all of my clients, family, and friends who have constantly supported me and given me the chance to showcase my talent by styling them.
