We had the good fortune of connecting with Tawana Randall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tawana, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe for me it was failing in the business the 1st time around and then slowing down and getting some education. Having a mentor is so important. When you are venturing out into a new business that you know nothing about, getting education, taking classes and having that mentor you can call to bounce ideas and thoughts off of it essential to your business success.

For me its the reason I am here.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The word “EASY” should never be used in the transportation industry. Its hard. Its worth it, but its hard. Once I decided to be in this lane, I had no choice but to learn it, master it and share it with others.

I teach women (and men) how to get into the space the right way and learn from my mistakes. My company Gold Star Logistics Group, LLC also hires new comers with no experience. You have to be able to give people a chance to learn before sending them out there on their own. So after they take my training, we do offer job placement when positions are available.

What ever you decide to do and  what ever business venture you enter in, get educated and get a team. There is no such thing as a “one women show’. You have to have a team to make the magic happen.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

OMG we are going to eat, eat, eat. Atlanta has some of the best restaurants and I love to try anything once.

We are going to head over to some of my favorite places for a great view of the city at Virtue Rooftop, Skylounge Atlanta and The Roof at Ponce City Markets.

I wold also be sure to visit Atlanta Botanical Garden, Georgia Aquarium and The selfie Museum so they can leave with some great photos.

And of course we got to have brunch. I love Sun in My Belly, South City Kitchen and Garden Park Brunch,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me its about the support for me and my brand. I really owe everything I do and everything I am to my mom, Anna Whigham. My mom had every right to give up on me and leave me to the lord (as she would say) But she has been by my side, prayed for me and supports me in everything I do. Often you would see her at my registration table at my events, taking phone calls and she is also my business partner in Dependable Screening Solutions. My mom is the “real MVP”

And of course the person that puts up with all the phone calls, the computers in the bed, the long nights in the office is my “boo thang” Terry Bonner, owner of Bonner Logistics Group. He supports me and allows me to get on his nerves with this industry and I thank him for that every chance I get. Then of course there’s my 2 boys Courtney & Keion and my famous Box Rusty.
