We had the good fortune of connecting with Tawana Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tawana, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by seeing a need in humanity and finding a way to fulfil that need which allows others to hold their heads up, gain their dignity and succeed through difficulties that they face. By doing so, it not only meets the needs of individuals, but it also gives purpose and inspires me to think boldly, move outside of my comfort zone and stretch widely to reach new heights. I truly believe that with more forward thinkers we can change the lives of those around us and find more ways to be our brother’s/sister’s keeper.

I believe that inspiration comes from within and is based on what you give and do to and for others. There is an indescribable feeling when you’ve given your all to help others in need and never expecting anything in return. The feeling you can’t put a value on it and it can never be bought. Your life will never be the same when you’ve touched a life for the better and you realize your purpose here on earth has found its meaning.

I’m inspired to live a life of service and knowing their is someone greater than I who gives me power and strength which are blessings to be a blessing to those I met.

Housing Program For Mothers and their Children

Our Mission is to educate, empower, and elevate individuals to live their Best Life. Our Purpose is to provide short-to-long term housing for women and children, while closing the gap in reaching self-sustainability. Our unified goal is to end homelessness, break the cycle of poverty, restore dignity, and empower individuals.

We are determined to take a BOLD approach to housing for the underserve by launching a movement of self-sufficient, educated and action driven individuals who use their experiences and expertise to positively reshape the world today.

You must make the CHOICE to take the CHANCE, if you want anything in your life to CHANGE!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All of my friends and associates know that if they come to meet/see me I’m going to put them to work!!! On Mondays we are catching up on emails and messages. I would at least take them out to lunch at UpBeet on Howell Mill Rd, their rice bowl is AMAZING!!! On Tuesdays we’re setting up and getting ready for donations to come in. We would probably stop for lunch at BarTaco on Marietta St, their fish and portabella taco is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! On Wednesday, we are picking up donations and getting them stored away. Our lunch is usually something like Smoothie King, vegan kale mango is the BEST! By this time all my help and visitors are gone lol. I end the week with one-on-one sessions with the moms at the center.

I love my family and friends and they all know how important my life work is and somehow they all find a way to join in and help with whatever is needed. We work hard but at least we take sometime to eat well!!!

Haven 4 Hope Inc. is built on the support and efforts of it’s volunteers, staff, partnership agencies and donors that help to provide stable housing and supportive services for women and their children. We have such an amazing support group that helps to meet whatever need that arises with those we serve. From referrals coming in from state/city/county agencies, shelters, non profit organizations, churches, and more… we couldn’t do what we do without each and everyone of our support arms.
