We had the good fortune of connecting with Taumir Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taumir, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
My business has taught me how to take criticism and apply it to all aspects of my life. Its.her.visuals is built to serve others, so the most important thing for me, is to learn how to please the “needs” of my customers. A lot of companies forget that their costumers “are the business”, what that means is. the business is nothing without the consumer’s investments. Feedback, negative or positive, should make you reflect on how you could improve your product. And, to constantly improve your business only pushes you towards a greater success. After being open to criticism while working my business, that flipped a switch and made me listen to feedback in my relationships with family and friends. Having a business/ goals definitely builds character and teaches you lessons DAILY!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It took years for me to invest in my equipment before even launching the business name or socials. I wanted to make sure I had everything I would need. I was collecting my checks from retail jobs until I could save up for enough to buy me a affordable starter camera. I began with self portraits, family portraits and nature shots to learn the camera. Once I felt confident I eventually practiced on friends. After about 6 months of training and educating myself I established a name and Its.her.visuals had it’s social media debut July 3, 2022, since then I have worked with artists like UnotheActivist, BigbabyGucci, Sidshyne and even social media personalities like “The Life of CashK”. Nothing worth pursing will be easy. I know its cliche but the biggest lesson is to just stay consistent and always apply yourself 100% because that one time you may choose to slack off could be your misses opportunity and I learned that the hard way. I want the world to know that I am not doing this for me the main idea for me becoming a photographer is to use my talents to capture moments to share with the rest of the world. I want everyone to see the world how I see it in hopes that you see that is beautiful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend in town I would have to take them to this creative spot named “The Bridge” in Northlake right outside of Charlotte. It’s founded by a young black man in he’s 20’s, we call him Cnote. The Bridge has events all through the week everything from yoga to performances by local artists. Its a spot to knock out everything you want when visiting a city. They have good food, drinks, you can hangout, there’s a gym, a recording studio even a place to get tooth gems. It is definitely one of the rising event spots in Charlotte. I always recommend going you never know who you may run into or meet and how your life could change over one night out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My personal shout out would go to my god mother Latoya Hollingsworth aka Chaoticstar. She started a business at 45 years old after dedicating majority of her life raising me as a single mother. Her trails and tribulations, never stopped her from pursing her dream to become a working musician and also help others. She started a non-profit organization “Star of Manasseh” , founded to shed light on suicide awareness. I watched all of the passion and late nights go into the foundation and I was completely inspired. In the midst of her business she found time to also engage in her creative dreams and was working as a traveling musician. Seeing one person accomplish whatever she put her mind too gave me the confidence to do the same. I no longer wanted to live a mediocre life working a 9-5. I felt inside of me that I was here to do something bigger and greater so I held on to that and out came Its.her.visuals. She taught me that anything is truly possible!
