Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Tashika Clanton and I am the owner and master event engineer for Affairs by Tmonet. I am a 24 year educator that believes wholeheartedly in creating multiple streams of income and promoting generational wealth and entrepreneurship within my family. 10 years ago, I decided to take my niche for creating fabulous birthday parties for my daughters and evolved that skill into a lucrative business. The goal was to specialize in taking our clients ideas and transforming them into amazing events or posh “affairs”. It is our hearts desire to make our clients feel like their event is the most important thing to us. We purchase and use only quality fixtures, linens, and event resources. We make every budget work and put our best foot forward. We dabble in some of everything, birthdays, baby showers, pop-up shops, spa parties, lush picnics, elegant brunches, destination weekends, family and friend cruises, domestic and international travel, church and corporate events, and of course weddings. Lastly, we put our heart into every project as if it was for our very own family.
As the owner, I would not have been able to do any of this without my husband Adrian and our children: Amani, Tamaiya, Autumn, and Taylor. They are not only employees, but the muscles and hustle behind the scenes. Without them none of this would have been possible. But most of all; we have gotten where we are today through the love and support of our extended framily ( friends and family alike), loyal, repeat clients, and word of mouth solicitation. Our journey has not been easy; however we have been able to grow at our own pace and in our own timing.
Along the way I learned a few lessons that have helped me along the way: I want to share four in particular. Number 1, there is enough money out there for every business to thrive. Therefore, don’t cheat, manipulate, or steal from anyone. Number 2, Always have integrity in business; it will take you far. Number 3, let your price be your price. Don’t short change yourself for anyone. Lastly, number 4, in every way possible; be willing to serve and give back in meaningful and impactful ways to those who need it most.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although I was not born in Atlanta; it has been my home since I was 12 years old. I absolutely love living in metro Atlanta. There is always something to do, somewhere to go, and good food to eat. Since most of my favorite people call Atlanta home I will just like to point out some of my absolute favorite places. For breakfast or brunch I have four go to restaurants: The Breakfast Boys in College Park, Gocha’s Breakfast Bar in Fayetteville, Truth Breakfast Kitchen in Fayetteville, and Snooze A.M. eatery off of Howell Mill Road in the heart of Atlanta. For lunch I love Humble Pie in Midtown, The Vortex off of Moreland Ave, and No Mas Cantina off of Peters Street. My favorite spots for dinner would have to be 2Urban Licks, Batsi off of Buford Hwy, The Southern Gentleman on Peachtree, and last but not least Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours. Honorable mention are some of my favorite collections of restaurants in iconic Ponce City Market and The Waterworks on Howell Mill.
For entertainment I would recommend catching a show at the Fox or Alliance Theater. I recommend visiting the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke. Spend an evening at Top Golf, walking and exploring The Beltline, or visit City Tavern. Lastly I highly recommend taking a trip to North Georgia’s wine country with Pop the Cork Wine tours and, or visit Chateau Elan winery and Spa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I learned very early in life that your village is very important. Without them, Affairs by T’Monet would be nothing. First and foremost, I am eternally thankful to my parents for always pushing me to take a chance on me. They valued my creativity and encouraged me to step out on faith and do it. I love you.
Next, I would like to “shout-out” a group of my biggest supporters: Chrislyn ‘Markell” and Chevaughn Haynes my first paying clients; Willette Cookie Davis, my ride or die support system and investor; and Brtiney and Veronica Lee; who entrust EVERY special moment in their life to me and promote me to their family and friends.
Last, but definitely not least, my husband Adrian who is always there cheering me on, holding my head up when things seem to be too tough to do it myself; motivating me to not give up. Adrian, none of this would be possible without you.
