Meet Tashara Scott | CEO of Fix Her Crown Fitness

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tashara Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tashara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I often hear women around me complain about not being able to find comfortable, stylish, and affordable outfits to work out in because of their weight or size. I’ve observed so much body shaming amongst women at times and I’ve always wanted to do something about it. I once felt depressed at times about my own weight and size, so I decided to make a change. My goal was to provide comfortable, fitness apparel that looks good on everyone regardless of race, color, or size.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to overcome adversities and staying focused on the multiple tasks that I deal with on the daily basis. I am most proud of being a woman that is able to manage a full-time carrier, a business, being a college student, and the most important one of all is being a single mom. I got to where I am today due to my faith, hard work, discipline, and dedication. Without any of those traits none of my accomplishment in my life would be possible. I wish I could say it has been a smooth road, but it has not always been, there was time when I went weeks without making a single sale and constantly watching and trying to compare myself to other women in the business. Once I realized that those same women once had to go through difficult times before they made it to where they are now and that everyone journey is different is when things became a lot better for me. Another big challenge that I found myself facing on the daily is trying to deal with the whole sex sales image. Staying true to myself and keeping my integrity while still looking and feeling good is how I can overcome the sex sales image. Since I have become a business owner, I have learned quite a few lessons along the way. My top four lesson would be to always believe in yourself, don’t be afraid to fail, learn from your mistakes, and never give up. The name of my company speaks volumes because every day I seek to fix the crown of other women who decide to take this fitness journey and want to look good doing it. I have dedicated hours of research trying to find material that’s comfortable, fashionable, fits well, and doesn’t expose too much. I am dedicated to helping women reach their fitness goals and feel good about themselves. It took me a long time to build up to courage to get into business for myself, but I’m glad I did because I see the satisfaction from so many women that purchase my apparel.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is such a large and fun city that it is hard to narrow down a single place during a particular time because there is always something different going on everyday. I would recommend to just plan accordingly as the day goes by.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to give all praise to Allah for allowing me to get this far because without him I would not be where I am today. I want to thank everyone who has been supporting my brand and believing in me which was family, loved ones, friends, and in most cases complete strangers. I wouldn’t be the hard working woman I am today with out my parents. I would like to thank my brother for being my listening ear when times got tough and I needed to vent. I would like to shoutout my amazing daughter for being my motivation in everything I do in life. Last but not least, I would like to thank my manager for always looking out for my best interest, the tough criticism and love, keeping me level headed, and helping me grow my business.
