We had the good fortune of connecting with Tarsha Crews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tarsha, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing that I have done as a parent is to WORK ON MYSELF!!! I made a conscious commitment to be present and active in my kids lives. To be most effective, I had to unlearn behaviors, learn to communicate more effectively and love more outwardly, learn to apologize, and let them see that I too have vulnerabilities. I can truly say that my kids have played a major part in my overall growth as a person and allows us to have an authentic relationship. This growth was also a catalyst in me starting Herban Creations.
What should our readers know about your business?
Herban Creations emerged out of the desire to embrace the things that we are naturally given. In terms of the products, everything is all natural and have proven to be beneficial in the body’s well-being. The slogans on our apparel and merch promote embracing your authentic self. Overall, the brand highlights being herban/urban…..naturally dope!! The biggest challenge that I faced to get here was simply getting started….taking the leap. Of course, life happens, but it’s important to learn not to live in those down moments. There’s always an opportunity to refocus and regroup!! I am most proud of having the courage to continue pushing forward and I want the world to know that I don’t have plans of letting up!! The future of Herban Creations is bigger than I can even imagine right now!!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My answer to this is probably drastically different than it would have been 2 years ago. But then I must also consider that Atlanta is like a second home to my bestie (Hey Red!!). The early days of the trip I would dedicate to relaxation and self care. I would probably book a nice spot for a staycation with a view of the city. I’ll fast forward this visit to May because, of course, the spring is more fun!! We’d spend a day at the Roswell Mill Waterfall with lunch and drinks. This would be followed by a spa day…I actually have a membership at a local spa. Preferably, this trip would fall around the time of a good concert or comedy show. As we transition to the turn-up, we could catch some vibes at Nouveau Bar & Grill. From there, we’d freestyle. My bestie is live and spontaneous!! I wouldn’t want to stick her with too much of an itinerary.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have an outstanding village that has pushed and guided me throughout life. Throughout every stage of my life, there has always been people in my corner. I appreciate them all!! If I had to pinpoint one person in this moment, it would be Mrs. Teaera Raines-Smith. As I have transitioned into entrepreneurship, she has been a guiding force in most of my decisions. Her advice and encouragement have lifted me in my weakest moments of this journey…even in preparing for this article.
