We had the good fortune of connecting with Tariq McAllister and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tariq, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to have freedom to make whatever visions I had become reality. I was never a fan of having to answer to anybody or having to ask for permission to get something done. So by starting my own business with friends that have similar visions, I knew that we could accomplish what others might think is impossible. There’s been no limit to the possibilities and creations that my team and I have manifested for ourselves, and I look to make that a reality for us forever.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve always had a passion for marketing and music. After being rejected from 12 music internships my junior year of college, I took a semester off of school and decided to create my own opportunities by starting an entertainment company, OneTwo Worldwide. It wasn’t easy getting it off the ground but by having a team with similar goals and having the passion that we had to be successful, there wasn’t one obstacle that could stop us. Our first event was a drive-in concert during the pandemic to give people a safe event to experience. During the process, we were hit with obstacles everyday that tried to bring us down. But we never quit. Now we look to grow into building this company more and more everyday because we know nothing can stop us.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places in the city is The Battery. It’s an area near the city that has a lot of food & game spots. It’s also the home to one of my favorite concert venues, the Coca-Cola Roxy, where I’ve seen some of my favorite artists perform. So if someone came to visit me, we’re definitely going to The Battery to get drinks at Fat Tuesday’s and going to see a concert at the Coca-Cola Roxy.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that inspire me everyday to be the best version of myself. Starting off with my family, they’ve always been my daily motivation to strive for success because I want to be able to give them the world soon. Next, my line brothers Gabe Brown & Chris Udo show me what it means to keep going and to never look back. They’ve always inspired me to be persistent in my goals and to always shoot for the stars, no matter the circumstances. But it’d be superficial of me to only mention a few people because so many people have paved the way for me, in which I’ll forever be grateful for.
