We had the good fortune of connecting with Tarik Shalha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tarik, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
It’s all about who you know. I’ve seen plenty of great photographers with lots of content go unappreciated while others get lots of recognition for their affiliations. Just like other industries it will always benefit you to talk to people and make lots of friends. Good contacts can really set you on a good course.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Photography started out as a job believe it or not. I’d always been interested in it but I got a job as a car photographer for a couple dealerships in the area. Once I found out I had a passion for it I began to look for more and more opportunities and it’s history from there.
I learned that making friends is possibly one of the largest parts of the business. It’s all about making sure the people you work with are satisfied with their overall experience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve always had a good time on the belt line and at Ponce City Market. Recently I went to buckhead for the first time and it was also amazing!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to Atlanta Mods. The owner Lalo is the main reason I’ve gotten work and it’s because he believes in his company and really appreciates me. His Instagram is @atlantamods1 and he’s deserving of as much credit as possible!
