We had the good fortune of connecting with Taraneika Brady, M.Ed, LMT and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taraneika, how do you think about risk?
I have always been a risk taker, especially if I foresee the benefits of taking the risk. My most recent risk taking adventure has catapulted me into my next level and created a foundation for my future. I left my teaching career of 6 years and enrolled in massage therapy school. After graduation, I hit the ground running and opened my own Spa while going back to the classroom to supplement my new business venture.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nothing worth having comes easy. The best advice I could give anyone from my experience is to start. Waiting until you have everything in place will more than likely have you stagnant. I believe where I am today is the onset of my harvest season. I worked hard, I was told NO several times, even had to start all the way over, most important lesson I gathered from all of this is to NEVER QUIT. I believe that Brains & Beauty Therapeutics is set apart from any other Spa because not only are we providing service excellence, we also mentor students and introduce them to alternative career routes such as trades. We host classes to show them how to create their own body butters, scrubs, and soaps.I want the world to remember BNB THERAPEUTICS and be on the lookout for a trade school in the future.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child “ is the first thing that came to mind while pondering on who all I needed to shout-out. My village growing up was small yet so strong. My mother Deborah Bond, a hustler like no other always made a way. My Aunt Joyce Polk, the educator who instilled the importance of education and a back up plan. My aunt Gloria Dean the disciplinarian you didn’t want to try, and my neighborhood grandmother Guyeula Jarmon, who taught me the meaning service and sisterhood. I want to thank these four ladies for creating a balance of morals, ethics, and the drive to work for whatever I want. Without their direction, I would not be who I am today. I would also like to give accolades to my mentor Candice Holyfield Parker /Six Figure Spa Chick and to THE SPA TRIBE. They have been a major influence on my venture to entrepreneurship. Having access to trainings, marketing skills, one on one sessions with spa experts, and class certifications has made my transition so much smoother.
