We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I think you should have a business plan, motivation and determination before starting your own business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Tara Thomas I am the official publicist for the Millennium Tour. I am also the Publicist for Teddy Riley and  King Harris in addition to managing Drea Kelly, Asia Diamond, and V103 Radio Personality Lil Bankhead.

I started in the music industry doing Slawta House with Bendrell T. While working there I was able to meet a lot of people and learn a lot of things.

I can’t say that I was faced with many challenges other than I was working in corporate America at the time. What I learned was to never give up.

What I learned was to never give up no matter how many people told me no and how many people close doors on me I was able to keep moving and elevating. I want The world to know that I have worked with some of the biggest tours and I do work with the biggest company G2 events and that changed my life

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend Kelli came to town I would take her to juicy crab for sure because I love seafood then I would take her to an event where Lil Bankhead from V103 was hosting it because I know we would have a ball. Now if I took her on a weeklong trip I would take her to Vegas so we could hang out with Teddy and go bowling. She has been my friend for over 30 years so we would have to go gamble we are like Thelma and Louise.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
