We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, what principle do you value most?
Behind all of my work at Modern Mom Probs is a strong sense of community. Motherhood feels easier when you’re part of a compassionate group of people who understand your experience even if they aren’t experiencing it at that exact moment of time. With Modern Mom Probs, my aim to shine a light on content creators, medical professionals, and other mothers to share their motherhood experience and/or knowledge of useful parenting strategies.

Community is at the heart of what I do because I truly believe the tide rises all boats. To quote Rihanna, “when the sun shines, we’ll shine together.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got my start in social media while working at Nickelodeon, where I oversaw the social media accounts for Nick Jr. and Nick@Nite.

My Instagram account started out as a humor page. Once I realized that empowering, uplifting content started to resonate more with my audience, then I began to incorporate more of it. Also, I started real talk conversations about motherhood and based on their reception, I knew this was the direction of my account and my mission.

I think leadership is a collaborative process of taking your people somewhere that’s important, whether that’s your employees and co-workers, or your online community of subscribers. In my world, that means listening to my community, and seeking out those things that are important or solving a new problem (e.g., parenting during a global pandemic).

My aim is to help women feel that they are not alone in their experiences. I want them to be validated in their experiences as modern mothers as well as to normalize the difficult conversations surrounding parenting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend visited me, I would take her to New York City and bring her downtown for lunch, possibly to Chelsea Market and then we would go for a walk on the High Line. We would likely avoid Times Square at all costs unless we’ll see a new show, or unless she was desperate to experience it in all its touristy glory.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout out to my Instagram mom friends, who are too numerous to individually list here. You know who you are. I love you. Thank you for being you. You inspire me every day.
