We had the good fortune of connecting with TANISHA MACKIN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TANISHA, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business through a tragedy I endured when my husband was killed. I started off by writing about my story and how I continued to stand after everything I’ve been through. Once I started publishing my own books, I received numerous emails and calls from people asking if I could assist them with publishing their books. My thought process was, I could make a living by helping others share their stories. I also found passion in writing, so I combined the two and decided to ghostwrite and publish books for my clients. I turned my pain into a purpose and profit.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As of December 2020, I became a full ghostwriting and publishing company. My company will ghostwrite your book and then publish it, so you don’t have to lift a finger. It was not an easy process because when I first got into the business, I wanted to take on every client, I wanted to do every project and it left me overworked and drained. I had to be selective in the clients and projects that I took on and it took me a long time to learn that. I am excited about the many accomplishments that my clients and myself have accomplished. My client John Smith did 25 years in prison and the only contact we had was through letters, so he trusted me with his project and he became a bestselling author and now has a campaign with NBA Star Shaquille O’Neal. I have been awarded Author of the Year in 2019, 2020 Publisher Award, Best of McDonough business award for 2018, 2019 and 2020 and host of other achievements.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some places that I love to eat would be, Slutty Vegan, Vulgar Vegan, Pappadeaux, and Fusion Restaurant (McDonough, GA). Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my grandmother for always having my back and encouraging me to do whatever I put my mind and heart to. Continue to Rest In Paradise Anna V. Triggs I would like to shoutout my mentor, Tieshena Davis, who helps me with my business, gives me great advise and is always a listening ear when I need it. I would like to shoutout Women In The Spotlight GoinGlobal (WITS) for always supporting my projects, my books, my authors and my business. I would like to shoutout my BFF, Che Haughton, for the talks and prayers when I need them.
