We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanisha, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Here at Houseoftancatering we thrive on giving back to our community. Helping others is not just something we do. We spread love through nourishment and outreach amongst our city of Atlanta through various outreach programs. At Houseoftancatering we partner with several organizations such as Blessed2BABlessing and UnconditionalLoveHugsandKisses every other month to go out into our Atlanta community and feed the homeless and give a little time back. Throughout the different seasonal changes we like to take time out to gather donations and clothing and put together toiletry bags filled with the essentials needed items for men, women, and children. Just reflecting back to our last outreach in Downtown Atlanta, it was such a wonderful turnout! You never know what others are going through and more so how their spirits can lift and brighten your soul. We have come across men and women from all different walks of life and it thrills me to be honored to be able to serve and help them in any way that we can.
What should our readers know about your business?
Houseoftancatering, is a catering company that not only caters food but caters to the general community. Along with doing charitable work throughout the City of Atlanta we encourage youth to get out to express and experience life at every moment. We offer cooking classes for ages 2-14 in the local communities. Kids will try almost anything if you just let them, is what I tell my parents. As adults, we are sometimes quick to think hmm, maybe my child wouldn’t, and I am here to say, yes your child can. With a little bit of guidance and knowledge, all kids can! We engage our youth during creative cooking and give them ways to show off the talents they didn’t know they had. To my surprise, in our youth cooking class, the guys showed amazing talents around the kitchen which pushed the girls to cook even more. HA! Can you picture that? Houseoftancatering got where it is today by always trying new avenues. Networking and adventuring into areas that were new to me has been a tremendous experience and has allowed me to be able meet new people and generate sales in a completely different manner than solely catering. The hardest lesson, I think any business owner would learn is to continue to get up when knocked down. A set back is not always a shutdown; you can always try another route. At Houseoftancatering we want the world to know that we not only deliver “HOT”, Hot, Original, & Tasty food items, but we also seek nourishment for the soul and for our community to feel the same.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my BFF was in town I would most definitely bring them through all of the hottest spots in the city. From the nature trails and scenic sites along the beltline to the artsy creative Edgewood side of Atlanta. Finding something to do would be endless. For starters, eating in Atlanta is a bit more than you can chew. If you catch my drift! Food is everywhere from fresh tacos at the local food trucks, eating while playing at Ponce City Market to fine dining in the Buckhead area. Then we would head over to one of my favorite places to do some football bowling and grab a cold brew. That’s right at Pin and Proper you get to throw some footballs at bowling pins and enjoy a youthful fun environment for adults. Not to mention, my girls and I would only be just a few feet away from the lovely RHOA Cynthia Baileys Winery and one of Atlanta best Tattoo shop Atlanta Ink. So rather we are enjoying the outside elements, knocking down a few pins, or grabbing a quick bite over wine we are guaranteed to have an amazing week exploring.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I had to give recognition to someone who has encouraged not only me, my brand, and just overall just 100% supports and genuinely care about the outcome of people happiness and goals. It would have to go to my two favorite people in the world! My best friend Sydney Feemster and my fabulous cousin Lashunda Johnson! These two are my riders and go to gals for sure! No matter the time or day or how far the event is, they are always willing to help from day one. They inspire me to keep pushing toward my dreams and always inspire me to do and be more. They are my village and I love them truly! The last two individuals that always give me their critics, love, support, and flat out just tell me I am beautiful on the weekly basis is my amazing niece Jasmine Jenkins and daughter Hayley Mitchell. Houseoftancatering was created in thought of them! These two are a force to be reckoned with! They constantly keep me on my toes and are willing to help at the drop of the dime. Behind the scenes, they are always stuffing bags, handing out flyers, down to creating their own content. That is right, at the age of 6 my daughter created her first cookbook. The Young Chef: “Let’s Get Cooking” by HD Mitchell. Have your kids check it out? Many of you have already seen them throughout our events and on our social media platform always lending a hand where needed. I can’t wait to see the young ladies they blossom into.
