We had the good fortune of connecting with Tangie Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tangie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started THIS CHICK’S GOT KICKS!®️ because so many women love kicks just as much as the guys do so I wanted to celebrate us. We can still be feminine if we choose to (moms, wives, teachers, corporate professionals, GIRLY) and love kicks. I believe that some females (especially middle-aged females) tend to feel some sort of guilt or shame because they would choose kicks over heels any day of the week. I was that female. I had to learn to be unapologetically me. Yes, I like my heels but I LOVE my kicks! Now I want to celebrate us sneaker-loving chicks in a fun, cool way. My brand is all about saying it loud and proud: “This chick’s got kicks!”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am a Sneaker Stylist. I style sneakers along with my new clothing brand THIS CHICK’S GOT KICKS!®️. I show my audience how to rock sneakers with a wide variety of different looks. What sets me apart from others is the time and dedication I put into my brand. I like to provide professional-level content for my audience on a consistent basis.

I got to where I am today by facing fear and not backing down. I was afraid to start this new brand because I thought everyone would think it was a stupid idea. I was so afraid of failing miserably. But I overcame the fear and just went for it with everything in me. After I overcame the fear, I got BOLD with my passion and there was no stopping me at that point. I knew that I had a great idea and I was going to go for it with no fear. So I learned – sometimes you gotta do it afraid.

It’s not always easy but do you think I’m going to quit on me? Not a chance. I will keep pushing because I know there are great things on the other side of the challenges. God did not bring me this far to drop me off here.

I want the world to know that I am a passion pursuer and a dream chaser. I firmly believe that God plants these passions inside of us for a reason. We all need to do more of what we love. That is my goal. To do more of what I love and that is styling sneakers and creating dope content for my supporters. I want to inspire others to do more of what they love. Also, that “stupid, crazy” idea that you are sitting on? Just go for it. It might just change your life!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestie was in Atlanta visiting me. I would take her downtown in Atlanta so we can rent some bikes and ride on the Beltine. We would stop and admire all of the cool graffiti down in that area. During her stay, we would shop at Perimeter Mall and have a nice dinner while we are in that area at Sage. We would hang out in Buckhead and shop there at the nice shops. We would eat at Cheesecake Factory, we’d visit Georgia Aquarium, and go to Top Golf for some fun as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ha! True story: My dad is the one who got me hooked on dope kicks. Can I shout him out in heaven? My dad was an awesome father and he had great style so he is the one who bought me my first pair of Nikes that I fell in love with back in 4th grade. All throughout my childhood and school years, my dad kept me fresh in the latest, coolest kicks. He definitely is the reason why I have this sneaker passion which inspired my new clothing brand THIS CHICK’S GOT KICKS!®️
