Meet Tanesha Forrest | Social Media Influencer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanesha Forrest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanesha, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is Consistency. The role of a Social Media Influencer/Content Creator requires you to consistently show up for yourself and others. I believe that in order for one to be consistent, they must first own in on their work life balance.
Managing work life balance helps to set the tone for consistency. By having a schedule that you dedicate to your brand you are able to implement and adapt to changes in the most effective way. Most importantly because life is always changing and so is social media.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started blogging & content creating as an outlet after becoming a new mom. I had learned so much about the not so fun part of motherhood and I wanted to share my experience so that I could encourage others in their journey. So I created my blog “The Modern Day Homemaker”. While the Modern Day Homemaker was influenced by my motherhood journey it has expanded to a much broader platform. I don’t have a fairy tale story, I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not. I’m raw and authentic and while I may not be for everyone, people love this about me. Life is real, so I give the real. I have the ability to make everyone feel included and I truly believe this is what sets me apart from others.
I’m actually giving you guys exclusive access as this is the first time I’m sharing publicly but I’m most excited about my upcoming E-Cookbook The Modern Day’s Homemaker “Gourmet on a Weekday”. I’ve always had a deep love for cooking and I’m so excited to to share these curated recipes with others in hopes that it brings joy to their soul as it does mine.
I am most proud of just taking the leap of faith. For tapping into my creative side and acting on it. For years I struggled with finding my talent. It wasn’t that I lacked talent but instead, I was passionate about so many things at once and while others may perceive it as someone who is all over the place, working as a Social Media Influencer has allowed me to explore my many different passions through Content Creating. Nothing beats being able to express myself and inspiring others while doing it.
I would like to think I’ve gotten this far professionally through being consistent! To be honest this was one of the most difficult things for me in the beginning. I wanted to show up when and how I felt like it and unfortunately that’s not how social media operates. If you want to grow and become visible on social media you must remain consistent and be adaptable.
It wasn’t easy at all because everyday the major platforms are constantly changing and as if this isn’t enough social media can seem like high school all over again. It drives off of followers, likes, views all of these pretty much equate to popularity, if you aren’t one of the “popular” ones it’s easy for you to be overlooked and get discouraged. It’s important to have tunnel vision.
I overcame the challenges by staying true to my goals, by canceling out all of the noise, through trial and error, by putting a plan in place and implementing it, by taking risks, by doing the research and the work. While I’m very grateful for every like, comment, save and share (keep them coming lol) I continue to be consistent whether I get 20 or 500, I don’t let numbers determine my worth and you shouldn’t either.
Some of the lessons I learned along the way was how to remain consistent and NETWORK!!!! There is so much power in networking and if you don’t take anything from what I share with you here, please understand that networking will take you places motivation can’t .
I want the world to know that The Modern Day Homemaker is so many things but most importantly it embodies every and anyone. In some way or the other we are all “Homemakers”. It isn’t just a glimpse into motherhood because I am so much more than just a mother. I’m a wife, a foodie, a self proclaimed chef (i use the title chef lightly lol) , an event curator, a modern woman and so much more. I have so many roles, wear so many hats and I love being able to share and connect with others through them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has become a city like no other, the possibilities here are endless now. Please keep in mind that this list is in no specific order, I like what I like and i’m willing to commute for it, haha.
Things to do:
In true Atlanta fashion I would start at The Roof at Ponce City Market, I absolutely love the roof for its childlike amenities but also because they always have fun pop ups and the most beautiful view of the city.
Atlanta has one of the best Aquariums, I’ve been several times and always enjoy my visit. I personally feel like you can’t come to Atlanta and not visit the aquarium.
Good Eats:
For good eats we are definitely stopping by Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles in Conyers, GA. When I say this is my favorite place to eat in all of GA I mean it. For starters the staff is always so pleasant and actually serve your southern comfort food with southern hospitality lol and the chicken OMG they have THEE BEST chicken hands down, no questions asked!
My family is from the Islands (Jamaica) and I love a good Caribbean spot so we’d have to stop at Negril Village. Negril is always a vibeeee, the food is amazing, they have great drinks(you must try the rum punch), the brunch is lit, the live music is always on point and overall it just reminds me of home.
A drink or two:
When it’s time to grab a drink or two we are headed to any of ATL’s speakeasies, all of the following are Insta worthy, with strong and affordable drinks:
Jojos Beloved
The James Room
Blind Pig Parlour
Red Phone Booth
Draw Bar at Bellyard Hotel is not a speakeasy but they have great drinks and amazing brunch.
Let’s Hang:
If we are just going to hang, we are doing so at the infamous Piedmont Park, I don’t feel like this needs an explanation but there is always something to do at Piedmont. I also love Sims Lake Park in Suwanee, GA. It has a very beautiful lake and it is so peaceful, the perfect place for a picnic.
The Girls:
If I’m with exciting people, chances are I’m with my girls from The Inn Crowd. It’s a community for WOC and we host the cutest events. So If ever, one is in doubt we always have several events on the agenda.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who I would personally like to shoutout but to keep it short I want to thank anyone who has ever supported me.
Most recently though, I have come across the most supportive group of creators through the Wise Assistant Creator Community and I cannot pass this moment up without giving my Wise family a huge “Thank you”. Thank you for welcoming me into the community with open arms, for the constant support and of course for the chance to even be here being featured in Voyage today.
In the words of Snoop Dogg “Last but not least, I wanna thank me, I wanna thank me for believing in me, I wanna thank me for doing all this hard work, I wanna thank me for having no days off, I wanna thank me for never quitting, I wanna thank me for always being a giver and tryna give more than I receive, I wanna thank me for tryna do more right than wrong, I wanna thank me for just being me at all times”
