We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammi Terrell Randolph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tammi Terrell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After more than 30 years as a master cosmetologist, salon owner, and TV/film hairstylist, I’ve tested just about every product on the market, from salon-grade formulas to the staples found in local beauty supply stores. I became an expert in caring for all hair types, but when I fully embraced my gray hair, I realized it had unique needs that weren’t being met.

Beyond purple shampoos, there were few products designed to address the fact that my hair required significantly more moisture than ever before while still ensuring my silver strands remained vibrant and luminous. That’s when it hit me: I wasn’t alone. All over the world, men and women with gorgeous gray hair were likely searching for products made specifically for them.

I’m grateful to see the beauty industry evolving, celebrating a wider range of hair textures and types. But even with that progress, there was still a gap, one that lacked true intention behind catering to the unique needs of gray and silver hair. So, I set out to change that and ANEW Gray was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hair styling has always been my calling. Growing up, I loved experimenting with different hairstyles, not just on myself, but also on my sister, mom, friends, and anyone in my community who would let me. That passion led me to cosmetology school, where I received professional training and honed my craft.

After a few years in the industry, I took a leap and opened my own salon, Shades of Color, while also exploring the world of TV and film. As life unfolded, my journey evolved. I spent some time back in corporate America, specifically in government, but deep down, I knew I had to follow my dreams. Stepping out on faith, I pursued a career as a TV and film hairstylist, working on incredible projects like Kingdom Business, Monarch, Pain Hustlers, and The Forge, where I had the unique opportunity to be both a hairstylist and an actor.

That journey ultimately led me to create ANEW Gray. Starting something new after 50 is a powerful statement, proof that age doesn’t define potential. Growth, reinvention, and fulfillment are always within reach, no matter when you choose to leap. Embracing aging as a sign of resilience, rather than something to hide, is freeing. ANEW Gray Hair Care was born from that belief, to celebrate and nourish gray, textured strands at every stage.

Of course, nothing in life comes without challenges. There were obstacles along the way, but the greatest lesson I’ve learned is the power of resilience and the ability to pivot. That’s what keeps dreams alive.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s technically not in Atlanta, but Savannah Georgia is one of my favorite quick getaways. I love having breakfast at the Gryphon and overall just getting inspired by the architecture and energy of Savannah.

I tend to spend most of my days laid back and working on the brand, I’m past my days of running all over Atlanta. But if you were to stay in the Atlanta area here’s how I’d say you should spend your day.

Coffee and breakfast at Gilly Brew Bar in Stone Mountain Village. The BEST coffee you’ll ever have with amazing vibes. It’s the perfect environment for working or relaxing.

I’d definitely recommend exploring Ponce City Market and the Belt Line! If you are lucky you might be able to grab a popsicle from King of Pops.

To wrap the day, you have to go to Two Urban Licks and order the salmon chips! It’s the best thing on the menu for sure.

Honorable mention is Camis Decatur – the best Jamaican food with outstanding service and the most amazing staff.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is truly my world. My husband, Darron Randolph has fully supported me from start to finish. He eagerly backed me up as I turned our living room into a laboratory and has been running beside me while we birth this beautiful brand. My daughters have also been incredible champions. Iyonna Shannon and De’Osha Randolph have been cheering me on and supporting me with all of the branding and marketing efforts. I have to give a very special shoutout to Tatyana Phelps, who has really become a bonus daughter while we’ve grown the brand and has stepped up in so many incredible ways.

It really takes a team, and we are still in the early stages of building what I know is going to soon be a household brand and name.
