We had the good fortune of connecting with TaMisha Tene and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TaMisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business actually began as a private label t shirt brand FABuulous CHIKKS but evolved into an online boutique hub for fashion preneurs who wanted to shop, style & study for business. I then created CHIKK University, an online platform to certify as a jewelry stylist or accessory trend consultant after being in the wholesale buying industry for 20 + years.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well I’ve definitely been in the wholesale fashion buying industry since the early 2000’s. After becoming a showroom manager & costume jewelry buyer for one of the nation’s leading distributors at AmericasMartAtl I built and extensive clientele and buyer relations with top trend forecasting platforms which allowed me to provide expertise & insights on jewelry forecasting. This prepared me to become highly educated in my professional field which set me apart from the mainstream.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well my college best friend is in the fashion industry as well so our week would be fashion filled of course. Starting out with breakfast or brunch and a little fashion sight seeing of the latest trends on the Buckhead strip & Phipps Plaza ( our college was once located here) . We would definitely have to swing by Two Urban Licks for drinks and dinner. Cruise through Atlantic Station for some out door shopping shenanigans and of course we couldn’t forget to squeeze in Ponce City Markets.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my daughter TiAira Lee, who inspires me every day to keep striving for greatness. As she builds her own brand TLC Graphics I see that my hard work in my own fashion career has had a positive reflection on her growing her own business brand.
