Meet Tamina Green | Illustrator & Crochet Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamina Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamina, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the little everyday encounters we all have. I feel there’s something really special in these experiences because not only do they make us all unique, they often give us a reason to relate to each other as well. I love making art that captures the uniqueness in life and makes it colloquial.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I learned to crochet during the pandemic and the idea of using this medium to create images and tell stories was very inspiring to me. I was in art school at the time of learning this new technique and i used to every assignment as a chance to perfect it. There was a learning curve at the beginning, i felt the things i wanted to make didn’t match the skillset i had, but with lots of hard work and countless hours of reading blogs written by crochet grandmas and watching youtube videos i was able to bring my ideas to life. I’ve learned that all the information you need exists in the world and that nothing is unachievable if you put in the time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live and breathe American deli, and this Chinese food spot on cascade road called New Star. I’m kind of a homebody but i love to sit out in nature and crochet and play some music!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to thank my extensive support group which is comprised of my friends and family! It was actually a close friend of mine that put me up for this shoutout and she’s been one of my biggest cheerleader no matter what path i choose to take. She taught me the power of networking across and building community with creatives! I’d also like to recognize my mom for never telling me i couldn’t do something, always encouraging me, and helping me chase my dreams.
