We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My most important factor behind my success was staying consistent and motivating my self no matter what I was going through I always woke up in the morning and made a post and tell everybody about my product. Also I may not have gotten the likes or shares or from other or the motivation from others but I kept going and have sold out 7 times every time I sold out it was less then a day or less then 5 days I am very grateful for my support.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am mostly proud of myself for sticking to running my business. I could’ve easily gave up because all the challenges I faced but I didn’t. I have gotten where I am today by networking and not giving up and putting my all into my business and also sacrificing not taking trips and not partying sometimes. It has not been easy or a smooth road at all but you have to have faith it all starts with your mindset and always speaking positive into yourself and business. I had problems marketing and believing in myself and with finding out who my target audience was. When starting a business sometimes, we keep putting our ideas on the back burner and it hurts us at the end if you have an idea go for it do not wait. I overcame my challenges by believing in myself I speaking positive to into myself. I have learned from my journey that no matter what keep going it does not matter the likes or who is not supporting you as long as you are posting and talking about your product it will sale. I am a 25 native from Aiken, South Carolina. I currently stay in Augusta Georgia 150 miles from East Atl. I sell natural hair products for all hair types. It is my passion to make others feel beautiful with natural hair products. I started my business five years ago off faith as I was sitting at my call center job thinking of what I could sell, everybody always told me how pretty my hair was and how much they loved it and would ask how did I get my hair to grow so long. As I was sitting at my desk, I thought about hair products a lot of the hair products we use have alcohol in it which causes our hair not to grow. I had started making edge control and hair serum hair growth oils and shampoo and conditioner which are all-natural hair products. The name of my all-natural hair products is called “MARA BORDES”, which is a combination of my name and the Spanish word “bordes,” meaning “edges.”. Two of my sisters are Hispanic, so I decided to incorporated the language into my brand name. It took me a long time to get where I am today. I had to take a long break and rebrand and invest lots of money and time in my business. I am still working on my business every day because I learn something new every day and also being consistent has got me a long way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate a shoutout to my mother Sadarea Pruitt for helping me start my business 5 years ago she has always been there for mental and physcial support. My mother has went to lots of pop up shops for she has help me package orders and help me think bigger instead of staying in my comfort zone. She always gives me good and bad criticism that helps me make my business better.
