We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamani Lyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamani, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe that the most important factor of my ‘success’ is the fact that I do everything within my organization to truly assist the community in any way that I can, from a genuine place. It’s also the fact that WOMEN OF LYN has such a strong tribe and audience. Whenever I host an event, have a partnership, community service event, or more – the girls always come through and support. I’ll forever acknowledge the impact my community has had on our success. People truly want to see me (and us) win. It’s truly a blessing.

What should our readers know about your business?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned while starting WOMEN OF LYN, is the importance of knowing that if God called you to it – there will always be room for you. Although women’s empowerment is an extremely saturated market, we’ve managed to create our own lane from the start and have continued to do so ever since. So, never be afraid to start a brand that may be common, the industry needs you specifically. In regards to one of the biggest things I’m the most proud of thus far is our National 1:1 mentoring program, by far. We began our program in 2019, and it quickly grew to a number of states across the US mainly due to word of mouth of current WOL Mentees truly enjoying our business development program. The thing that makes me the happiest about our program is the fact that we’ve also managed to create our very own annual scholarship within our program as well. I remember starting my first business (WOL) my sophomore year in college off of a Forever 21 Sales Associate salary, which is close to nothing. And I know a lot of people in college (or even around the same age) are in the same position. So being able to help out meant a lot to me. Lastly – I want the world to know that WOMEN OF LYN has a lot more in store, and we haven’t even scratched the surface of our potential yet. So stay tuned!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout-out to my alma mater, Bowie State University. I started WOMEN OF LYN my sophomore year in college and all of my peers were so supportive. Even my professors. Attending an HBCU that’s founded on the basis of family truly impacted WOL in so many different ways and our organization wouldn’t be what it is today through everything I learned while attending Bowie. So shoutout to every student, professor, dean, and admin that supported our vision.
