Meet TaLesha Oliver: Content Creator and Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with TaLesha Oliver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TaLesha, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The one misconception about bloggers/influencer is, we just take pictures all day. That is totally false. As a one woman show, I wear a number of hats. In a reel I posted on my instagram, I shared a few roles influencer have in their business, the photographer, makeup artist, hair stylist, stylist, and more. The photos, videos, and blog post are results of hours or days of research and planning. The sponsored posts are results of pitching and negotiating our value to brands. I am believing for the day I will outsource to make room for creative freedom, but I am using what I have and making the best of it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a content creator and influencer. During college makeup was a side hustle for me and Youtube was something I was very passionate about. Post graduation, I focused on beauty content. As my relationship with God grew and I decided to be abstinent I shared that journey while also sharing fashion and lifestyle content. IT WAS NOT EASY. However, I did quit but my desire to be creative overpowered all doubt. I’ve learned that my decision to create content was not accepted by everyone. Once I was at peace with that, I didn’t care about the opinions of others. I knew I was born to create. I just want the world to know my stories and that they are not alone.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am such an introvert and I barely go out. However, Birmingham has great brunch and soul food restaurants. We would go to Five or Roots and Rivilry for brunch then Jake’s Soul Food and Caribbean for dinner. For the weekend we hit a couple of rooftop bars like Moonshine Bar, The Roof of Birmingham, and The Hive.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout God and the people he’s placed in my path to help me and mentor me. After graduating college, I was ashamed to say I was an influencer. I took a leap of faith to not go into the field of my degree and use my gifts. So many people have poured into me, held me accountable to stay consistent and encouraged me to not give up when times were hard.
