We had the good fortune of connecting with Talecia Wade and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Talecia, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Athens, Ga I come from a big family and everyone has always expressed to me that I can do whatever I dream to do in life. It may be hard but if it’s for me it will happen
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am proud of me for stepping out on faith. I recently left my government job of 7 years to follow my dreams. I’ve always been confident and believed in me but I never pushed myself. I’ve always been the friend to support and work behind the scenes so I knew if I went half as hard as I did for everyone else for myself I couldn’t lose. It’s never easy when you are risking it all and not knowing how it’s going to turn out. I knew clocking in everyday I would get a check but when it’s you who has to meet payroll everyday it’s different. That’s why you have to have a strong plan and believe in you no matter the odds. On the journey I have learned that everyday is not a good day but as long as it’s worth it keep pushing. I’d rather work 80 hours in a week doing something I love than 40 hours a week and be comfortable. I want people to know that TruLi Cosmetics is not just another makeup brand. I started this company because there weren’t people who represented me in the makeup world. I refuse to make myself fit inside of the beauty world standards, follow the next trend, or lower my standards to viral. Someone had to do it for the regular women so why not let it be me. We aren’t famous, popular or on the cover of magazines. But we shut down any room we step in because we have confidence in our abilities and people can sense that
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m usually the friend that’s on charge of making all the travel plans. So we would probably eat Mexican food at my favorite place Dols Palma’s they have Amazing drinks as well or a nice brunch spot I like to try local places.. We would probably visit a lounge(Sudos bar and Grill) I love the atmosphere there. Of course we have to have a self care day a massages from Blessed Hands by Jen. Do a wine tasting at Château élan.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is for my older sister Jessica Brown to some who know her story they may say she was dealt a bad hand. But she didn’t let that stop her even with losing part of her vision at a young age she had gone one to graduate college, start a family, and on the way to publish her first book. I can’t complain about my obstacles when I see her chasing her dreams with everything she had had to overcome.
