We had the good fortune of connecting with Takida Cobbin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Takida, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by authenticity! In today’s time everything is mimicked from social media. Individuality has been lost. It’s inspirational for me to see, hear and watch people be unapologetically themselves.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Entrepreneurship hasn’t been easy. I’m still learning everyday how to maximize and market my brand. I’d say the key that I’ve yet to fully unlock is my target audience. I see beauty in every being and at times it’s hard to differentiate between business and simple kindness. It fills me up to make people feel beautiful. With my personality, I knew I had to be the face of my own brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Edgewood! It’s historical and great food for blocks. Little Five Points for a full Afrocentric vibe and fellowship opportunities with Black business owners. I’m so impressed by Kandi Burruss’ business ethic and restaurant success, OLG and Blaze Steakhouse definitely makes the list. To include a host of Black History museums/art and monuments in and surrounding the city of Atlanta.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to recognize my Son, Cory Porter for being my copilot into adulthood. I was a teen Mom figuring out life as I raised my Son. He didn’t know it then but we grew up together. A large part of my growth had everything to do with being an example to him.
